bethen avilla ; the circle mage (bethe) wrote in thedas,
Beth tried to wipe away the tears with the hem of her very loose sleeve, feeling even worse after Thais had apologized, even though she couldn't tell whether it was sincere, or if it was even for the right reason. She didn't care whether or not the Enchanter regretted the fight -- her pride had been battered, but it was the core cause that concerned her more. Had any lesson been learned? Would Constans be safe from her after this, or was it all for nothing? She saw the look that passed from Aurin to Constans; sickeningly, Beth realized that her involvement may have only made it worse. Bad enough that Aurin already disliked Constans, and now it sounded like he was to blame for the whole situation. And what if Aurin got in trouble with the senior Templars for her indiscretions? She felt so...stupid.
As Aurin reached for her, the mage wanted to resist his sympathy, his pity, but found that she lacked the strength to stand on her own, even though what she wanted to do was get as far away from this incident as possible. She wasn't physically injured, not in the way that Beth had pulled out a decent handful of the other woman's hair, but Thais' spell combined with her own efforts had sapped her of all energy. She allowed herself to be scooped up, wearily bringing her arms around his neck as told, and leaned against him. "T-thanks..." Beth managed to mumble, no longer crying, but still shuddering her breaths out. "I-I'm sorry, Aurin," she continued to mutter quietly, no longer capable of fighting to keep her eyes open, "P-please don't blame him... It was all my fault."
