Thais kept her eyes closed as her thoughts swarmed back together. As her mind cleared and the light-headed feeling faded, she slowly returned to the scene in front of her. She looked at Aurin, her gaze flickering unconsciously over the man’s now exposed chest. A soft blush rose in her cheeks and she quickly looked away… only to gaze at Constans’ still exposed muscles. Thais rolled her eyes up towards the sky as if cursing and thanking the Maker at the same time for putting her in such a situation. Gripping her staff, she took a very deep, steadying breath.
She brought her gaze back down to listen to Constans explain what had happened to Aurin. Thais listened with concentration, for she was also uncertain what exactly had happened. The fight had blasted away the short-term memories of the lead-up. As she listened to the explanation, she rubbed the tips of her finger against her scalp where her hair had been pulled. It seemed clear to her that Beth had been acting on territorial instincts in the situation. She blinked when Constans looked towards her. Thais wasn’t sure what his look was trying to convey, but a weary smile played on the corner of her lips in response anyways.
Once Constans was done explaining, Thais brought her gaze away from the tranquil. She gave a small glimpse towards Ashya before looking at the templar and younger mage. As she stared at the curled up Bethen who seemed to be trying to hide in the shirt, she felt a strange annoyance. It wasn’t the same annoyance as she had before, but a different type, one not necessarily directed towards Bethen but towards the situation in general. As the girl stammered words and began to cry even more, Thais bit her inner cheek softly. For some reason, she felt tears at her own eyes in response. She shook her head lightly, forcing them away.
Thais took another deep breath and stepped closer to the pair. A rather professional expression appeared on her features, though it could easily be misconstrued as a smug one. The woman was attempting to have a neutral expression while keeping her own emotions at bay. She waited for a small break in Bethen’s crying before she spoke up, “Mage Bethen, I am sorry for what has taken place. I was not aware that you were so easily provoked into such action and I apologize.” Her eyebrows rose a bit. It was hard to apologize while still trying to keep hold of her own pride.
