bethen avilla ; the circle mage (bethe) wrote in thedas,
Beth felt the a foot connect with her leg, but it wasn't hard enough of a blow to make her let go of the enchanter's hair -- in fact, her fingers wound even tighter through her blonde locks, Thais' resistance making her want to hold on. The woman's free hand managed to grab at her robes and suddenly there was a push-pull struggle going on; Beth was trying to strike wherever she could, while Thais was trying to keep her away. She felt something rip as she tried to push Thais' arm out of the way; one seam on her sleeve had popped, revealing the pale flesh of her shoulder underneath. Annoying, but certainly not stopping her.
What did deter Beth from pulling quite as hard as she had been was the spell that was working its way into her. She felt the mana drain from her body, a strange sensation that was hard to explain to anyone who wasn't a spellcaster, but it was beginning to feel like she had run a mile instead of a mere four or five feet. Realizing what was going on, Beth relinquished the haste spell she had cast on herself, trying to reserve what mana she had left for a different approach. She had no intention of genuinely hurting the other mage -- not really, just make her sore and regretful. Constans was saying something, but she couldn't hear a word of it -- besides, this fight had gone beyond his involvement, anyway. It felt...good to allow herself to be angry and to keep people from pushing her around, just for once.
Beth let go of Thais' hair, but moved her hand lower to grasp the woman's shoulders and shove her hard and step back. As soon as she was no longer touching the enchanter, Beth concentrated on casting a quick telekinetic spell in a further attempt to stun her; the mind blast radiated from her, though the wave would have harmlessly passed through any of the bystanders and went straight to the sole intended target. Doing so made her feel even weaker; she probably only had enough mana left to cast one last spell, if she found that she had to.
