Thais continued to run the cloth along Constans’ skin. The ivory fabric was quickly become dark with the dirt it picked up. She chewed at her lip lightly. The amused expression that had graced her features was quickly fading away into a contemplative one. Thais glanced down Constans’ body. It was so well-formed. She supposed that was good, it meant he’d be able to fight if the time came to. Thais was about to set the cloth in the water to rinse it when Constans moved forward. She frowned softly at the movement. Bringing her gaze up, she took a small sidestep so that she could look at Constans’ eyes. Despite the constant neutral expression the tranquil had, she had found that now and then there would be glimmers of thought behind his eyes. Thais had already seen a softness overtake his facial features more than once in a tranquil-styled confusion. She liked to see that subtle shift, it hinted that she did affect him in some way.
She was so caught up, she barely heard what Constans said. Instead, her frown stayed as she followed Constans gaze to see a figure walking towards them. As soon as she recognized the bookish girl, Thais sighed and forced herself not to roll her eyes. She recognized the strong steps Bethen was taking, they were readying steps. Most likely the girl was preparing to interrupt with some reminder of Circle relations or something like that. Thais did not notice the additional female that was also watching with disapproval.
The woman placed a hand on Constans arm, the fingertips lightly grazing over the bicep. She stepped in front of the tranquil as if shielding him from Bethen. She raised an eyebrow at the question that came from the girl, “You may ask.” Thais paused, as if this was her answer. She knew she should probably answer the question anyways though so that Bethen didn’t get all ruffled by the curt response. Sighing, she began to brush off the soot that had rubbed onto her hands, “I am simply making certain that Constans is settling into his new work well.” She tilted her head just a little bit to the side, “Is there something that you needed?”
