So it was not Constans's companions watching out for him that led to him now being armed. If one without emotion could be said to hate anything, it would seem that Constans hated being idle. When Ordhan first saw him, he thought that the young man had simply been overburdened by duties. He later learned that it was of his own volition that Constans was always busy, and it seemed that this pursuit of work was what earned him a sword of his own.
Ordhan nodded at Imenry again as she began the exercises. It was true that he had seen them before, not only at the training grounds at the Wyland estate, but among the guards who cared enough to stay in practice. The particular movement Imenry was executing was for the wielding of a two-handed sword, with which Ordhan had only superficial knowledge, but there was a similar exercise for the use of a one-handed sword with a shield that he knew well.
Imenry moved with grace and precision, slow enough for each of the movements to be followed with the eye. Ordhan slid his sword into its sheath and watched. Though the movement was performed for the sake of teaching Constans, there was always something to learn from another warrior. She had an interesting way of moving her feet that was much lighter than the stumping tread many used. He would have to remember that.
