"Dagna left Orzammar to study magic," Signy replied, after a moment of thought, not sure if Imenry would see the weight of that action; what Dagna gave up for her passion. Or, at least, what she thought she was giving up, and would have abandoned forever if not for her discovery. "And it was hardly a popular decision with our family." That was the explanation she settled for. "I can..." What had Imenry's other questions been? She thought back for a moment. "I only had to undergo the treatment, and take the potions, once. It's permanent and, I think, irreversible. And they did make me very sick at the time, but it's a body's natural reaction to a huge change, I think." A huge and unnatural change.
"As for spells? I can make fire, and do a bit of magic with the earth, and the stone—that was the easiest thing for me to learn by far—and sort of…I guess you could say, influence how well someone does at something. Make them just a little better or just a little worse." She pursed her lips slightly, trying to figure out how to explain it; they were spells Dagna had taught her, and though she knew how to cast them, knowing how they worked was something else entirely. "And a few other odd things, here and there. And I can, uh, make someone stop moving or speaking or doing anything for a few minutes. That's turned out very useful."
