My village was unaffected by the last Blight.”
She narrowed her eyes as she listened to Signy explain about dwarven mages. “That sounds complicated, and painful. I mean, you said you were unconscious at times? Does becoming a mage hurt? What does it feel like? I knew… mages when I was a girl and magic always seemed like a gift with them. One boy, he said it was like this warmth that flows through you, filling you, right before you cast. But he said every spell felt different. I’ve only been on receiving end of magic, both from attack and being healed. It’s hard to imagine what it must be like to actually have that ability. So many people are scared of it. But I think it’s no worse than giving a man a sword. He can choose to fight with it, or kill with it.”
