Signy reached up and took the jerky, no longer as curious about the culinary aspects of surface life as she had been a week ago—road meals she had learned much about, and gotten used to. Before taking a bite, she kept on speaking, holding the small, shrunken piece of food in one hand as they walked along. "Thank you — And I, well, aside from Paragon Dagna, she became a mage on the surface, you know. But I think she kept it fairly secret." And Signy had a slightly better idea of why, now. "And came back to Orzammar very quickly; I gather she left the Circle almost the same day as she... well, changed herself. So I'm technically the second."
She took a delicate bite of the jerky, chewed in the tenacious way that you really had to chew to get the hard stuff down, and swallowed, and then answered Imenry's question: "And we do view Grey Wardens with respect in Orzammar. We always have. If only because they understand the fight, I think, quite a lot more than most surfacers do. And they helped, well—stepped in and helped resolve an awful situation in the Assembly and the Palace when I was a very little girl, so the late King always spoke very highly of them."
