"Well, of course a forest is alive," Signy agreed, looking up and a bit askance at Imenry. "It's made of a collection of trees, and everything I've learned so far about trees suggest that they are very much alive. I mean, they are, aren't they?" She glanced around, searching for the nearest tree or tree-like object (she knew the word for shrub but often forgot about it), just to make sure she was imagining the right sort of thing. Green, cool, sort of leafy? "That makes sense, at least."
"Do you think we'll see any bears or Dalish elves or wolves on our way through?" Signy was, perhaps, not sensible or knowledgeable enough to be worried about any of these things—she was surrounded by capable warriors and had no knowledge of the enmity between humans, especially the Gwaren knights that she now traveled with, and the Dalish clans. "Are they.... should I imagine they are very common, or very rare?" She pursed her lips.
