Who: Seda Utheriel
Where: Town of a Bann

Rating: K+ (mentions of ogling and light swearing)
Shuffling into one of the back alleys Seda started rifling through all that she had collected. A few bits of copper and even a couple of silvers greeted her searching hand. It wasn’t exactly great wealth but not bad for this section of town. Not bad for any part of this town unless she decided to raid the Bann’s home which was never ever happening. While Seda had plenty of confidence in her speed, her ability for stealth and sweet talking people into doing most anything she was not going to risk infiltrating the Bann’s personal home. It wasn’t like she needed that wealth anyways, these bits were enough to buy bread, fruit and on a particularly good day bits of cheese and meat. Whatever it took to survive, nothing more than that. The people she was taking money from were not exactly well off themselves and if she took more than she needed… well for those long gone her parents still clung to her. She could still picture the way the left side of her mother’s mouth would dip when she was disappointed. She didn’t want her parents to be disappointed in her. There is a loophole to every rule though and this particular rule did not extend to any rich passer-bys or even that obnoxious merchant who Seda had caught leering at her the other day. Obviously that man was not a good sort and she was justified in appropriating a few choice pieces from his stock. It was only fair after all, he had been ogling her. Ogling her! That dirty old wretch of a man should learn to keep his perverted eyes to himself. Filthy human bastard. She felt dirty just thinking about the rotten piece of dung. Her time was better spent on more important tasks. She had dawdled long enough and now it was time to make an appearance among the townsfolk. It was vital that she was seen carrying out normal citizen-like tasks such as buying food so as to appear normal. A person who never buys food and has no one else do such a task seems remarkably suspicious when they are still alive after a long period of time. Such people were usually branded thieves and were either run out of town or arrested. Not that Seda knew of such things, only a naïve fool would overlook such an obvious detail. Admittedly back home no one bought food because you hunted. Funnily enough such a thing could very easily be compared to plucking the ogle-r’s produce from right under his filthy nose. Still that could only be done so often and today was the day she was buying food in public view. She couldn’t help but wonder where they thought she got the money to buy food but no one ever asked. Weird the things people don’t consider. Seda double-checked the pins keeping her hair in place; she didn’t need a stray gust of wind to ruin her whole ruse. Humans were naturally much more helpful towards their own. Not that such a thing was unusual in any way, wasn’t every race the same way in such a regard. Us before them. For such varying cultures and traditions many of the basics remained the same no matter what race or country one hailed from. Deciding the pins were in place Seda headed out the alley and towards the bustling marketplace. As she approached her target she made sure to widen her eyes and tilt her lips slightly into what she knew was an adorable smile. With eyes as big as they could be, ears securely hidden and her slight build she presented herself to the town as a poor human orphan years younger than her actual age. Dear gods above these were the things that made Seda come alive. Such fun these games were. |
