bethen avilla ; the circle mage (bethe) wrote in thedas,
Beth had apparently been holding her breath the entire time that she was waiting for the qunari to release the girl, and sighed with relief as soon as she was set back down on the ground. As she explained herself to Aurin, she noticed Ashya look to her for some kind of support. The older mage stepped forward from the gathering crowd to stand beside her, pausing to give one more look over to ensure she wasn't hurt. But other than her sense of pride, she was unharmed; nothing was broken and Bethen didn't have to break out any healing spells already. "It's true. She wasn't very far -- I was watching her," Beth added, trying to be helpful, though maybe came off as a little reproachful toward her friend. He had been too distracted by conversing with a pretty woman to keep an eye on the youngest in their group, and that was not how she expected a good Templar to behave. Then again...over the last few weeks of traveling and hearing stories about him, not only told by Dee, but gathered from remarks made by Maddock and the others, he didn't sound like his reputation within the order was...sparkling. Beth hadn't asked him about it yet, though, and she was somewhat afraid to know the truth, anyway.
In regards to the hedge and the implied demonstration, Beth felt the need to be frank and honest in this situation, "Well, there...was a small fire. But I put it out." Realizing that telling him there was a fire without explaining the reason might have been more alarming than reassuring, she added quickly, "It was an accident. It shouldn't be a problem." And if it was, maybe they could bring the Warden-Commander a new shrubbery? She glanced between the qunari and the templar anxiously, hoping that this situation had been sufficiently resolved.
