At the words regarding the other templar's disapproval, Deidre's face took on a more stubborn cast. "Rick's going to eventually have to accept that I'm neither eight nor seventeen anymore," she responded with a sigh. "And I'll tell you what I've been telling him repeatedly all my life; I can handle my own trouble just fine." It was an old argument, and one that she was certain they were going to revisit over and over again because that particular facet of their relationship had not changed in the fifteen years she had known him. Still, the reminder earned the briefest glimpse of irritation that mingled with a certain degree of affection. Despite their stark differences, both men took their roles as knights-in-shining-armor rather seriously.
Once Beth was within earshot, she rolled her eyes skyward and jabbed a thumb towards Aurin. "Don't listen to him," she said, fighting down a grin. "He's eager to go exploring just as much as I am, except I'm an easier excuse. It's actually been a while since I've seen a Summerday festival, and if you've never been, Amaranthine has some of the best seafood in Ferelden. I doubt our hosts would appreciate it very much if we went off to ruin our appetites though, when they're putting together a feast and willing to share. But there's bound to be a candlelight procession by the children once twilight starts falling, and plenty of games and shopping once the celebration goes into full swing."
The brunette glanced over at the gates again, furrowing her brows. "I was actually just talking to Aurin about the Qunari," she told Bethen. "About how rare it is to find any of their number this far south away from Rivain. Hard to miss, aren't they? I asked one of the guards and he didn't seem to know what they're doing there, either, or who or what they're waiting for. However they've been there for days. I thought they might have been Tal'Vashoth looking for work but something tells me they're not."
Looking down at herself, she couldn't help but laugh. "Ah, me, but I could use a bath," Deidre told both of her companions. "However I think it'll be a futile enterprise all the same to bathe, and then go trod on the dust in town, or crawl through cobwebs should I give in to the urge to ferret out the Order's secret passages in their new Keep."
