Fiddling with the canteen the man had handed over Seda rolled it back and forth between her hands before she finally opened it. Pouring out some water she hastily scrubbed away most of the blood, frowning when she saw some of it remained beneath her fingernails. Picking at the crusted blood she kept one ear on the warrior across from her. “Money I would assume. Isn’t that the reason people do most things. Whatever it is must be worth a lot to someone.”
Leaning back she watched him pry the last remaining piece of his armor off, grimacing at all the water streaming from it. Eyes trailing after the small stream of water she jumped when he spoke to her. Whipping her head around to face him and rolled her eyes. She wasn’t getting into that argument again; she knew she would have been just fine without him, better off even. Crossing her arms and huffing she glared at him, half tempted to stick out her tongue. She wasn’t a child though and managed to restrain the urge to do so.
“Aurin then. If you care to know my name is Seda. I would say it’s nice to meet you but I am sure we both know that is a lie.” Still glaring at him, eyes baleful, she drew her legs in tighter in an attempt to get warmer, anything to fight off the chill that was creeping in. She could feel her arms starting to shake, her body trying to warm itself on its own, and clutched her knees to her chest.
Raking her eyes over him, head to toe, she tried to think of what he could be. Chewing at her lips she tried to come up with some ridiculous profession for him. “Are you perhaps a bard then? Oh or maybe you are circus performer. Wait, wait I think I know what you are.” Sucking in a deep breath she smirked at him, eyes glittering with mirth. Doing her best not to laugh she tried to make her face appear as serious as possible. “You are one of those men, the ones who work at brothels dressed up as women, aren’t you?”
Biting back the smirk she struggled to make her face as innocent as possible. Raising one hand up into the air and placing the other over her heart in a gesture of fake sincerity she stared into his eyes. “Now don’t be afraid to admit it. I promise I won’t judge you. Personally I can’t see the appeal but I am sure you are very popular with the men.”
