“Oh yes. Sneak away. They would have followed the sounds of your grumbling across half of the kingdom!”, his voice rose as he returned words towards the woman. As she fell silent though he grew slightly worried. No response and no snark meant bad things in his mind. He slowly skidded to a stop as the forest died away and revealed the banks of a quickly rushing river. He glanced left and right down the banks before he frowned slightly. “…now as long as they don’t have dogs…”
He heard howling coming from behind them and winced. “Me and my big mouth!”, he grumbled as he turned back towards the river. “I don’t want to look at the giant do I?” he asked with the hint of a smirk tugging up one corner of his mouth. “…and have faith. Your snark and my tin cans. We could be unbeatable. You never know.”
He paused though before she grinned up towards him. She did have a nice grin. “I’ll take my chances with the river.”, he decided before suddenly on a whim let his head dart forwards to place a quick kiss right on those grinning lips of hers.
“For luck.” he murmured. Without any more preamble he helped her with that flinging by tossing her bodily towards the rushing water. He aimed for deep enough water so she wouldn‘t damage herself on the bottom or on any rocks before glancing over his shoulder towards the giant.
“Later!”, he said with a smirk and a slight wave. One hand dropped down to draw a dagger from his belt before he leapt into the swift flow of the river. The water hit him like a slap to the face and he immediately sunk under the surface as he was dragged under by the weight of his armor.
