Furious, she huffed and fought the urge to reach out and strangle him… again. “Better the trees than you. And I would have managed. I could have sneaked away. It would have been easy to do without all the clanging that you cause…” Retort dying as she heard the sound of the river and saw the giant warrior running at them she fell silent.
Every single ounce of annoyance at the warrior carrying her slipped away. All the furious words and sharp rebuttals fled her mind. How could anger remain when they had that running at them, bellowing as he knocked down branches and trampled logs. Everything fell away as the raging giant charged them, eating up the space between them. All that remained was fear and the simple wish that they not die.
Clinging to the warrior she remained still as possible, not saying anything. Staring with wide eyes she cringed every time the man came another step closer. Swallowing down the lump in her throat she turned her gaze to her companion. “I am not sure we can kill him.”
Breaking through the final line of trees they teetered at the edge of a small incline. Looking over her shoulder Seda gazed down on the river streaming past them. Gazing at the rushing water for a moment she quickly glanced back at the furious giant, still charging at them, bloodlust shining brightly in his eyes. Staring at the man she quickly decided she would take her chance with the river.
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath she grinned wryly up at the warrior. “Would you rather drown or be torn limb from limb?” Leaning backwards she prepared to fling herself into the water below.
