Focused on holding on as he ran through the woods, jumping here and there, she almost missed his question. Frowning in response and shook her head, hissing. “I didn’t take anything from them. They’re the ones trying to take it from me.”
Whatever was in the package was clearly more important that she had been led to believe. There were a lot of men in the woods right now hunting them down for whatever was contained in it. Flinching as an arrow flew overhead she tried to curl up more in the man’s grip.
Clinging tightly to him she loosened her grasp on his hair at his command and awkwardly petted it. He was a bit of an ass but she hadn’t meant to rip his hair out. Biting the inside of her cheek she looked up at him, still smoothing out his hair unconsciously. When she finally noticed what she was doing she ripped her hand away and started at it horror. What in the world did that hand think it was doing?
Still in shock at… caressing him she sat stunned for a minute before another arrow came uncomfortably close to her head. Those men were gaining on them though and her current mount had to increase his pace soon or they would be on top of them. “At least if you were a horse you would move faster. Do you want them to catch us?”
Moving her hand lower she grabbed the collar of his armor, fingers curled as they fought to hold on to the slick metal. Turning her head to the side she flinched back. Running after them were a horde of men, swords waving through the air and bows pointed right at them.
Ducking her head back down into the warrior’s armor she tilted her head up to glare at him. “It is your fault. I would have been perfectly able to escape this situation on my own. You can’t blame me for your poor decisions.”
As the sound of rushing water grew louder Seda almost breathed a sigh of relief. Before she could she looked back up at their pursuers and froze in shock. Rushing at them, crashing through the trees was the largest man she had ever seen. He was easily the size of Ardal and much angrier looking. “I thought you killed their giant?”
