For the first time in a long time, Conlan felt the urge to laugh. Before him sat a half empty bottle of ale, and a half full tankard. Across the table sat a man who had saved his life on more then one occasionm a man Con knew he could trust to stand by him in a fight, especially against the darkspawn. But right now, it was about catching up.
"...I swear, it was the oddest thing I have ever seen. There's me, hired to get this wagon train, and Cormac, hired to stop it. And I had never met him before this. So I see this guy with a Mabari, and I figure he has to be some noble type right?" Conlan reached out and lifte the tankard to his lips, downing a sip, before returning to the story.
"So, I'm distracting the dog, and the barbarian, and Seda, this elf girl is keeping Cormac at bay, when suddenly, she turns around and jumps on the barbarian woman's neck! And really, I have seen wild stallions easier to break. But Seda just holds on for dear life, until both women end up, on the ground, in the mud, out of it." Conlan had to take a moment to breathe as he related the tale.
"So, the Barbarian is down, Seda is down. It's, me, it's Cormac, and his Mabari. I figure, the whole job has gone south, I'm totally screwed, so might as well try any tactic. So I look him square in the eye, and... I ask him, if we can just stop fighting, and he'll let us take one of the wagons. And he agrees." Con leaned back in the chair, letting the mirth drain from him, and relaxing, he took another sip from his hale and looked at Ordhan.
"I may live to be a hundred, and I will never stop being surprised that that worked."
