Backscene: Easy
Who: Darrian Anner and Thren Canondais When: 9:40, Nubulis, right after Difficult Where: The Pearl What: Thren and Cormac make such a cute couple, or so everyone at the Pearl thinks. Except for Darrian, who overheard something he wasn’t supposed to. Rating: Probably safe
“You’re going to give up on your boyfriend already?” Darrian leaned against the doorway of the next door room, running his eyes up and down Thren’s body in a blatant appraisal. It was obvious he liked what he saw – the elf tilted his head sideways, his lips curving into a small smirk.
Curious, the young man had observed the encounter between Cormac and his friend from the very beginning, noticing Thren as soon as he’d entered the Pearl, quite obviously a stranger to Denerim. He had watched, amused, as the news spread like wildfire amongst the ladies of the night present – Cormac, the very popular and straight Cormac had taken a man to his room.
Curiosity had compelled him to eavesdrop on the pair, so he alone knew that it had not exactly been a lover’s tiff, despite what the sounds of the breaking chair and the unintelligible yelling had implied – but why pass up on such a golden opportunity to talk to a handsome stranger? A handsome tall stranger to boot.
Not to mention an apostate – Thren should have known better than to divulge such information in The Pearl, where the very walls had ears as well as wagging tongues. But it seemed only Darrian had become privy to this information, and although he knew the right thing to do was to find the nearest templar and divulge all he knew, he dismissed the thought as soon as it occurred to him.
Darrian was only eighteen, and had never even seen a mage, let alone an apostate. The thought of a man who could kill him with a mere thought was exciting, rather than terrifying, and the lure of meeting such a potentially dangerous person – well, that was something the youth couldn’t resist.
“You come in to snatch him from the throes of the evil seductive clutches of the women in here and you give up after…five minutes, at best? Now’s the time to slam him against the wall and make him scream your name in the throes of unbridled passion!” Darrian said, waving an arm expansively, eyes shining mischievously while he curiously studied every little detail about the man.
