Coan Bryland ; the ferelden noble (coan) wrote in thedas,
"Yes, we are originally from South Reach." He didn't go any further into it. He'd been to Lothering several times, mostly as layover from traveling to Redcliffe and back home to South Reach or Gwaren. He saw - or, rather, he heard in her voice - that she didn't seem very comfortable talking about it much more. Coan understood very well. He ay not have know why she stopped, but there were many things that triggered the same response in him. Of course, talking about his own father wasn't one of them, because he was extremely proud of everything his father did, and of who he was as a man. He would talk to anyone about him if they would listen, but he felt now wasn't the time to share stories of heroic fathers.
When she quickly changed the topic, and shared her own dwarven experiences, his own eyes widened some, possibly in jealousy. "I've only heard stories of Dagna! I think you might be the lucky one in this case." There had been many instances where Coan could have met a dwarf. He could have spoken to many of the dwarves wandering Denerim, those trading in Lothering, or those traveling merchants on the road. He'd never taken the chance to do it, though, and thinking about it made him a little sad. So he was definitely looking forward to getting to Orzammar, not just to meet some dwarves, but to see the wonders he'd only read about for himself.
"I hope you get to see them, too," he shared the sentiment. "If you're chosen to come to Ameranthine you'll get to see so much. Even making your way there, depending on the road you take, the sights are fantastic." He would be very happy to have this mage along. They'd only been speaking for a few minutes, but she was a very nice girl, and, really, he would need someone else to pay Noa a little attention if they were going to be traveling all over Ferelden. "But be positive about your meeting with the Warden-Commander. If he wants you there, you'll be there." He still wasn't very sure why Alistair had conscripted him - there were many reasons to argue, but he did his best not to think about it. He was recruited, and that was all that mattered. "If you don't mind my asking. What is it that you do as a mage?" He knew that might have not been the best wording, so he tried to rephrase. "I know there are different...kinds? Of magic, right? Do you only practice a certain kind?"
