Coan Bryland ; the ferelden noble (coan) wrote in thedas,
When the caravan slowed, and eventually came to a halt, Coan dismounted, smiling as the snow squeaked under the rubber sole of his boots. Looking for direction, he saw Alistair standing at the front looking pensive, and wondered just what it was the Warden-Commander had on his mind. No doubt it was important, and probably none of his business, but he couldn't help but imagine himself proudly wearing the crest of the Grey Wardens, discussing plans with the commander himself. Right now, though, it looked like he would do his communicating through Talfryn - which was reasonable, they were old friends, and Talfryn was a responsible man, completely capable of the job. He was distracted, then, by Noa, nosing at his leg for attention and warmth. Kneeling down, he untied the cloak from around his shoulders, and swung it over the chilled Mabari, watching her traipse off to chase the back end of her new garment. He'd need a new cloak by the end of the night.
When he stood again, he saw that Talfryn was walking back to the waiting group, while Alistair strode off toward the dwarf city. When the knight returned, he briefed the group on what was going to happen from there. Passing the reins of his horse off to another knight, Coan started to make his way over to Talfryn, wanting to ask him for more detail. When the knight saw him approach, though, he made a face that Coan knew and understood very well. So, turning back to the wagons, he decided he would just start setting his tent up again. It would be a long, cold night. Hopefully someone would get a fire going, soon.
