AHH! sorry for the week+ delay. life caught up to me!
At the turn of conversation, Roran smiled lightly. She didn't mind answering questions. In fact she preferred it. She found continuing conversation much easier than starting it. If given a topic on which to speak, Roran could often talk for hours. Elsa's question caused her to shake her head lightly in silent response before giving her a verbal answer. "I've never left Redcliffe," she admitted. "Being a guard doesn't allow me to leave often if all. The knights are the ones who get to go out on missions of importance. Occasionally, a few guards will be taken with the Arl if he visits Denerim, but they're more experienced than I."
She shrugged her shoulders lightly at the end of her sentence, casting her gaze downward as she thought to herself. Had she really been in Redcliffe for 24 years without ever leaving? When she thought about it, she realized how sheltered of a life she'd lived. If the Chantry had been misleading her to believe things that were not true, she'd all but allowed them to do it by not seeking out any other knowledge of such things.
It's not your fault, Roran, she told herself, her brows furrowing in thought. Your family is here. Besides, where would you have gone?
She finished her internal dialogue by shaking her head once more and sitting up straighter, picking up the conversation like she hadn't just fallen silent. "I've dreamt about other places though. Like the city of Denerim or the ports of Amaranthine," she commented, trying to bring her thoughts back round.
