Imenry would have agreed that she was not a good teacher. She'd never really taught someone. And her weapon was a claymore, not a dagger. Still, she did know how to use on when necessary. It had been different from teaching Falina, because the girl, despite her youth, had some experience with a blade. Elsa, on the other hand, obviously had no training, at least none she remembered. And Imenry was being difficult, because of her dislike of the other woman. She was slightly surprised when Elsa's arm suddenly lit up, blazing like a torch. It faded just as fast, and Imenry stared at her in surprise for a silent moment, before sheathing her claymore.
Stepping forward she offered Elsa a hand up, a shock passing between them from the lingering tingle of magic. "I apologize... I'm going about this the wrong way. I... am suspicious of you. Brennan is my closest friend and I have always watched out for him." After helping the mage to her feet, Imenry reached down towards her boot to pull out a dagger.
"Okay, forget about magic right now. You obviously need to work on that too, and I can't help you with that. Trying to use it is just going to tire you out." She, unlike Elsa, knew that magic drained a person, that they could be tapped out, sapped of all energy and unable to cast a spell in the same manner a tired warrior would be unable to lift their sword.
Moving to stand beside Elsa, she demonstrated how she held the dagger in her hand. "When you strike, it's good to do what you were before, and feint to one side before attacking elsewhere. Each opponent will have different weaknesses. Those with heavy or large weapons will be slower, whereas those who wield smaller blades will have more open areas to strike." She demonstrated a few simple strikes, putting power behind them, then asked Elsa to mimic her. Now that she had an idea of how little the other woman actually knew about combat, she realized it was better to start out more easily.
