Exhaustion curled around her like a fuzzy blanket, making her limbs feel heavy as she curled towards the warmth of Brennan's body. One arm slid under the pillow as her face turned into the white linens, the other curled close against her chest. In her sleep she took on all the vulnerabilities of a woman that would never show when she was awake. And even often when she slept, the walls stayed up. It had been a long time since she'd slept and felt safe with another person, or even alone.
She sighed in her sleep, her hair tangled under her on the pillow and between her and Brennan, caught in his hand, and for once she slept in stillness and peacefully.
