Imenry looked over at him in exasperation. It wasn't that she was jealous. They'd long since discovered they made better friends than lovers. It was simply the fact that if he was going to hop into someone's bed, it was better off not being the type of woman who expected a marriage proposal afterwards. And that girl out there had looked just that type. She rolled her eyes. "If you didn't touch her then why on Thedas were you apologizing to her and saying it was okay that she just came out of nowhere and slapped you like a jealous lover!?" She let out a long breath, then lowered her voice. "You should have let me hit her back. Who knows what else she even said to you. I didn't understand it."
At his reasoning for why he had to leave Imenry fell silent, then dunked her head under the water to rinse the soap out. When she surface she brushed her hair away from her face and stared at him. "No, I know how they treat it. They hunt mages down and lock them away in a tower, starting from when they're children. And if the mages try to hide away they hunt them down, take them in or kill them. At least that's what's said. And blood mages are completely illegal. They kill those without question." Her voice went soft, thinking of Brennan's mother. She looked away.
"Do you think anyone noticed that you used magic? I think that... if I tell Signy about it she might be able to do something. If we say you're with the Wardens... helping them, most people probably won't question it." At least she hoped that would be the case. Imenry didn't really know. She was just trusting that Signy's position, which protected the dwarf mage herself, would protect Brennan as well.
