It'd been a year since Æolyn had left the Dalish and life with her parents continued just as she'd remembered it. Nothing about their daily routines had changed, but as Lyn began listless and a bit withdrawn during their hunting stops, Tamrail realized there needed to be a change. And she, during a stop near the Korcari Wilds, he'd invited his daughter to accompany him on a hunting trip. "You should come with me," he told her, nudging her with his elbow lightly as she helped him unpack his hunting supplies. "It'll give you something to do, and you can practice your magic. There's no one in these woods," he said, trying to sweeten the pot. It had taken a little persuading on Tamrail's behalf to get Lyn to agree, but she'd finally conceded and set out with her father. And so here they were, ankle deep in rotting plants and mushy ground. This wasn't Lyn's idea of fun exactly, but her presence seemed to make her father happy and that's really all that mattered to her. It hadn't taken Tamrail long to locate the trail of a large buck and soon the pair had caught up to it. Using the training he'd received in his clan, Tamrail stalked the buck in silence, signaling to his daughter to hang back. She let out a light sigh as she watched him slink through the foliage towards the animal and rolled her eyes. So much for practicing magic, she thought to herself, but did as directed. She didn't want to be the reason her father lost his catch after all. |
