Lillie blushed at Jill's words. She had never been used to hearing compliments, and especially not ones like that. In a whorehouse the compliments tended to lean towards attractiveness, and how skilled one was in bed. "Thank you. It's kind of you to say that.."
She fell silent as she listened to Jill's explanations. It seemed the man she met in the wilds wasn't a Chasind. But then, what was he? She frowned slightly, puzzling over it. It sounded like Jill liked him very much, at least as a friend. At her angry cry, Lillie shifted her eyes downwards. "I'm sorry Jill, I only meant it in jest. You don't really strike me as the man-hunting type. Honestly."
She didn't know why Jill went so quiet after that, or what she was thinking, and could not have guessed what her harmless words had awakened in Jill's mind. The woman had spoken only briefly about her mother and it hadn't been enough really, to tip Lillie off that their relationship was so poor. "I haven't been around them much before Salma either... and she doesn't seem to dislike me." She looked down at the horse, but decided not to press the question, as Jill's tone had gone closed off. And so she just didn't say anything more.
