Lillie smiled slightly at the comparison of magic to love and nodded. Healing someone... it could be similar. It had that soft warmth that spread throughout one's body. Rather like the feeling of being in love. "I guess people are used to hearing about magic. But most people's first reaction to it is to be afraid. We're taught from a young age how dangerous it can be, after all."
She blinked at Jill's question and then nodded. "Well.. my mother was an elf, so even though I was human I lived with her there." There hadn't really be any other options. At least without her father, whoeever he was, in the picture. "I moved out when I was fifteen, to work at the Pearl. My mother died when I was young and my grandfather and I never got along." It was a mild way of putting it.
Lillie smiled at Jill's story, though she shook her head slightly at the thought that she'd been tricked. Maybe Jill would have avoided such a place if she'd known ahead of time. But it seemed like the experience had been a good one for her at least. "A lot of times customers don't want to talk at all, but for some that can be our primary service. Not everyone has friends they can talk to, or not so freely."
