"I never saw magic before I joined you...well, I guess I felt it before I saw it...but it was a thing out of a fairy tale to me just a fortnight ago. Now," Jill made an eloquent gesture with one hand, momentarily releasing the reins. "It's perfectly normal!" Jill giggled to show that she was joking, and that she still felt slightly daunted by the prospect of magic. "It's like love," she added as an afterthought. "I've heard so much about it, but I've never actually tried it."
"Did you grew up in the Alienage, Lillie?" Jill asked, suddenly curious about this fact, asking another question as it occurred to her. "I thought only elves lived there?"
This pirate captain sounded like someone Jill would have liked to meet. Glancing for a bird chirping deeper in the forest to one side, Jill tried to imagine how it would be like to be surrounded on all sides by water, instead of greenery. She liked to bathe, but she had never learnt to swim, and the prospect of a boat, floating on water, wholly dependent on this element, uncomfortable. She would have liked to meet this pirate captain, Jill decided, but on dry land.
The blush deepened at the grin in Lillie's voice and her reply question. It had never been a big thing, not something Jill thought about often, or recalled, but this little heart to heart, somehow made telling Lillie more of a deal than Jill had ever regarded it as. "Um, well, I did...er, I was tricked into going." Wrinkling her nose daintily she tried to think of Darrian as one of the 'services', but failed utterly. He had indeed been very service minded, but he'd also been very interesting to talk too. "Um, and well yeah. I enjoyed it...I guess he'd had a lot of training. But it was just as interesting to hear him talk about things. You must meet a lot of interesting people, working at a...eh...brothel."
