"Well, marching into battle has always seemed rather stupid to me," declared Jill, grinning at nothing in front of her. "It seems like something men are very fond of doing, but I always wonder if not most of it could have been avoided. My brother always got into the most stupid and unnecessary fights. Being able to heal..." the word came out somewhat unsteadily, because of the associations. "...someone must be the most fantastic and useful gift!"
"Growing up in the wilderness," Jill repeated, much more dreamily. That sounded fantastic to her, like a wonderful way to live and grow up. The 'dangers of the forrest' made her think of Garrett though, and a smile flitted by her face and was maybe mirrored in her voice. "That sounds truly wonderful."
When Lillie rested her chin on Jill's shoulder, the red-head smiled gently, almost childishly. She had never had any very close female friend, and Lillie acting so free around her, made Jill very happy. It satisfied something deep inside her, some part of her that had maybe always longed for a sister or just female companionship. Jill liked men, they were usually very straightforward and easy, just like her, but since she had met Lillie, Jill had realised that there were other things, other sensations and discussions that arrived only in the company of another woman. "A female pirate captain? That sounds exciting! The female knights and soldiers at Highever never seemed to like me much though. I never understood why, but Oran insisted they felt threatened by me...which seems ridiculous!" Laughing with Lillie, Jill lowered her voice, even though the group further on the road were not yet in earshot. "I went to a brother once!" she whispered, a slight blush growing slowly over her neck and cheeks.
