Molioris. Before it had been a month where there was even more work than usual at the farm, the longer days meaning that there was more daylight to train horses in. But now, it was just a pleasantly warm month, she was pleasantly free of anything remotely responsible and there was coin jingling in her pocket. It had begun her first day, when a great many things had been decided, among them that she had to have some training before being sent out on her first ride, some better clothing, and a saddle made for longer rides. For three days now she had been diligently bent over maps of Ferelden, ignoring the lure of her new home and the adventure of exploring it. But this day, or rather, this morning, her instructor had been called away on urgent business, and she was left to find her amusement elsewhere. Or at least she had slipped away quickly before anyone found her anything more useful to do - the house keeper she had learnt already, was a woman who could not abide idleness.
Slipping out of the castle was done in a moment, she grinned at anyone she met, and they grinned back without questioning where she was heading. The answer was the stable of course, no exploring could be done without her best friend. She didn't bother on saddling Salma, only putting a halter and lead on her, and keeping loose hold of her. Back at the farm she would just let Salma follow of her own accord, like a huge dog, but Jill still felt a little nervous about living in Highever, and didn't want to loose the horse by accident.
Starting her trek into town, she only just arrived at one of the small bakeries just off the town square, when her stomach protested against it's empty state. Turning to Salma, Jill glanced around her on the empty street. "Stay here, Salma," she told the horse sternly, looking around her again. "And if someone tries to steal you, kick them and the screams will alert me! I will be back in a jiffy!" Giving the red horse one last pat, Jill let the lead fall to the ground and dashed off into the bakery, following the delicous scent of freshly baked goods to it's source.
Salma was left standing outside. She looked around for a second for something fresh or green to nibble at, and finding nothing, she swished her tail and moved her ears in annoyance. When she realised that Jill didn't seem to come back quite as quickly as she had sworn, the horse settled down, looking alertly around her for any other source of food, but not moving around much.
