It was the same routine, but it was in a different setting. There was people milling about, tents being sorted out, fires lit. It was a great bustle to the woman who was used to quiet little spots, a cup of tea and conversations only with her horse. She didn't mind - Salma was good company, but it was interesting to have all this...activity to study. Even though the horse had not actually carried any other burden then Jill's saddle packs this day, she still took great care in removing all the gear, patting her dry and grooming her until she shone. It was a routine, worked into her hands and her arms, and even though she had done it uncountable times, it was a habit that she enjoyed almost as much as the horse. Laying the saddle on the ground, wrapping the saddle blanket around it to protect the leather, Jill looked at Salma. The horse looked back, before stretching it's graceful neck out and butting it against Jill's shoulder. She had gotten some strange glances when the rest of the group noticed her habit of letting Salma walk after her like a big dog, reins hanging useless over her back, but Jill was so used to that she barely registered it.
"Hungry, you beast?" she asked the horse affectionately, bending to rummage through her saddle bag. "How about some grass and then I might let you share this apple for desert?" Letting the horse wander as she wanted, Jill lay down in the patchy grass next to her, crossing her ankles and throwing the apple back and forth between her hands. While it might look like the horse would step on her, Jill was quite comfortable, since she knew it wouldn't happen. The scent of the drying apple attracted the large red animal though, and Jill batted away the soft muzzle that came looking for it. "Grass first, young lady." When the horse realised the apple was not up for discussion, she instead started to nip at the fresh grass, slowly making her way around Jill.
