WHO: Symmetra & Jefferson
WHERE: Cerulean City - Cafe
WHEN: Early afternoon
WHAT: Finding an ally to talk shit about other people
WARNINGS: Resting bitch face
STATUS: In-Progress

As much as Jefferson despised Cerulean City and all the talk of the Pokemon, having just fought one in that damned dome was enough...it was much more quiet than the Casino Night Zone, and it had a peaceful cafe with tea. Sure, he could always go to New Leaf but the over cheerfulness of talking critters was more than enough to make him bang his head against a wall.

No. After the past month of fuckery, fighting with his companions (or just Swan and Regina), and every instance of hanging out with Killian a near death trap, the Hatter merely wanted some fresh air, a cup of tea, and some peace.

He sat outside the cafe of course, relaxed in his seat with a book, his notes on the area and ignoring his cartography duties for the day in favor of a break. He of course glanced up here and there to take note of the locals, perhaps internally hopeful that there would be less locals and more people outside of the new 'world' that were much more lively in a sense that didn't feel...fake. In the very least the tea was not fake. A delicious Honey Vanilla Lavender was warm, relaxing, and very real. And eased his nerves about all the annoying children walking about gawking about their little pet monsters. Ugh.

Satya Vaswani was known for a great many things; her sense of humor was not among that list. Today, she looked particularly unamused as she navigated a sea of children. First of all, their parents ought to feel remiss for allowing them to wander unsupervised. Secondly, why did so many of them choose to wear baseball caps and ... good heavens, were those spandex shorts? Her skin crawled at the thought of cheap synthetic materials!

Cafes were not a usual haunt for her due to a severe aversion to crowds. Today, she braved the cinnamon-scented interior hoping to find patrons older than fifteen. Kids tended to be too loud, too messy, too inquisitive for her tastes. The company of adults was preferable. But only under circumstances where solitude was not an option.

Sanjay remained unresponsive to calls made via her headset. The cafe staff, at least, were quick and efficient. A cup of Darjeeling oolong provided a much-needed point of familiarity. Satya felt comforted with the warm cup in hand. Stepping outside, it was a feeling almost robbed from her by a flame-tailed lizard plodding by. Were it not for the steadiness of her Vishkar prosthetic, she may well have spilled her drink.

In her quest to avoid a trampling, Satya had backed into someone's chair. Her pride was such that having to offer apologies pained her. It was humiliating to admit wrongdoing, and it was for this reason she often avoided social gatherings. But, it was unavoidable now. The actions of some riff-raff had forced her hand.

"I beg your pardon," she greeted. Her gaze avoided Jefferson's in favor of staring down the charmander with a look of icy judgment. The ire she exuded would have been super effective in frightening most creatures. "This place has been most inconvenient. I am of the opinion that establishments serving food and beverage should not allow animals on the premises."

Thankfully, Jefferson had only just reached for his cup of tea and was not in the middle of drinking it. That would have just been the icing on the tart.

At least the person who bumped into him had some manners, and actually looked to be more of a free roaming person rather than a proverbial slave to the land and it's lovely little oddities. "Oh, don't worry about it." He followed her gaze to the Charmander and it's flaming tail, unable to do anything but agree. Thankfully it looked like it was only waiting on it's owner--the wild ones tended to stay in what was known as the 'tall grass' and Jefferson made sure to stay the hell away from that. Walkways were the only ways he was placing his feet. "Unfortunately the citizens of this city share their love for these animals so much it's something of a cohabitation. A bit too much."

It took him awhile to figure it out, but Emma was probably staying here because this was where her son would probably go if he showed up. Undoubtedly, Grace would more than likely find her way here, but Jefferson had little hope she would also be cursed away to this location. She was better off not being stuck here.

"It's a small price to pay for a decent cup of tea and half decent atmosphere." He motioned to the open table and empty seat across from him. While he would have preferred to sit alone he had retained some manners. Forced manners, but manners all the same. This woman looked dignified enough and held her posture to which he'd guess she wouldn't be a trouble to invite....he hoped.

Satya recognized Jefferson's offer as the empty gesture it was. A stilted nicety meant to fulfill societal expectations, but one hopes they're not taken up on. Feeling slighted, she thought about declining out of spite. Satya didn't need anyone's charitable contributions. As if he was so good looking, so world-renowned that she ought to feel honored to share proximity with him. In Satya's book, he was a nobody if she couldn't recognize him from a Forbes list of most wealthy and powerful men.

But, as luck would have it, there weren't any other tables available. Looking saltier than the Dead Sea, she gave her lustrous hair a flip before taking her seat. Under normal circumstances, she would never fish for personal information. It wasn't her business, and frankly, she didn't care. But so long as they were stuck together, she may as well needle him for helpful insights.

"From where do you hail? How long have you been here?" she asked, trusting him to discern her true meaning. Satya wasn't referring to his time spent waiting in line at the cafe. It was plain to see that he didn't belong here any more than she did. The silly device in her pocket made it seem as though displacement was a common issue. Those who found themselves far from home had yet to make their way back. As a problem solver by trade, the idea of accepting her fate was unsatisfactory.

Come hell or high-water, Satya would find a way out of this sickening children's fantasy. If no paths were open to her already, it only took a bit of Vishkar ingenuity to create a new one.

And there were the questions.

The Hatter took a nice refreshing drink from his mug before setting it down on the table to answer her questions, adjusting the scarf around his neck that covered the scar from the Red Queen, letting the tea warm his hands. "Originally, I'm from the Enchanted Forrest. Before that, Storybrooke, Maine." This should be an interesting topic. "I've been here...a little over a month or so? Maybe longer? Unfortunately, the days have been bleeding into each other and I found keeping track of the time was only souring my mood."

"My name is Jefferson, delighted to meet you." Though he didn't make any gesture to indicate so, Jefferson was just..sick of the whole situation. This hadn't been the first time he was stuck in another world, away from his daughter, against his will. Time spent in the curse in Storybrooke in isolation had hardened him to a point of a very lackadasical demeanor and certainly much more pessimistic. "Where do you come from? I take it you're fairly new."

Enchanted Forests. A place called Storybrooke. Satya felt her patience running thinner than silk stockings. This man was hardly any better than the surrounding children and their annoying pets. He was likely some kind of out-of-work actor. Which explained his acceptable fashion sense and level of grooming. Still, a disappointing prospect to consider all the same.

At least he hadn't reached to shake her hand. For that, he won a proverbial brownie point. Satya hated worrying if the applied pressure was too much or too little. One never knew where the fingers of a stranger might have been, anyhow. It was an antiquated gesture that everyone should agree to do away with.

"Satya Vaswani, lead architect for the Vishkar Corporation. When my employers discover this place," she meant it when she said when. Not if."They will be most interested in whatever cloaking technology has hidden it away from the rest of the world." Satya neglected to confirm her status as a new arrival. If Jefferson was anything like herself, he didn't have much use for such answers.

Lodged in her cybernetic palm was a circular projector. From it, she conjured a basic sentry turret. Satya had little need of its usual functionality. With some minor alterations, however, they could be converted into surveillance cameras. By deploying enough of them, she would gather information much faster than on foot. Her tinkering was then interrupted by a gawking kid who rushed over to ask, "Is that a new sub-evolution of Magnemite? Where did you catch it? You mind if I scan it with my Pokedex?"

Ill at ease with all the attention they were gathering, Satya tried in vain to shoo them. "What nonsense is this? Have you no manners? Away with you! The gentleman and I are not amiable to extra guests."

That was certainly a mouthful. "That's an impressive title. Please make sure if you somehow find contact outside of this realm, you let the rest of us know. Those of us who are still sane would like to go home." He was sincere on that. Jefferson had a daughter to get back to. And while Emma and Hook had children of their own, he just didn't think they were taking any of this as seriously as he was. Emma was going through a personal crisis and Hook was...lackadaisical.

He did take notice of the conjuring of objects from what looked like a robotic arm. Well then. That was one way to be an architect. Ease of convenience too.

Jefferson almost chuckled, he was a little more patient with children, seeing as he had his own. But Satya had a point. "It's not a Pokemon, kid. And she's right. You'd do well to try some manners first before walking up to strangers, it's rude." The gawking child seemed unconvinced about it not being a Pokemon but clearly was outnumbered by the adults. He didn't want anyone telling mommy so he quickly contended to run off. "You should be careful with that, you know. Useful as it looks? Not every town is as friendly or civilized as this one. Some are quite...medieval."
