WHO: Wanda & Natasha
WHERE: Peach's Castle; Acorn Plains
WHEN: Thursday
WHAT: Spider drops in on the Witch
WARNINGS: TBD; will update
STATUS: In progress

Acorn Plains was good to Wanda. She plopped there rather suddenly, yes, and she was confused like most as to how to make her way here, with no friends, limited powers and less understanding. But answers were slow, and she figured a few things out herself. The Toad that guarded the castle was nice; Wanda had already given him some of her coins, was polite when they spoke, he'd allowed her to live in the castle for now, taking up one of the empty rooms in the huge place, while the Princess was away.

Sometimes, Wanda felt like a ghost haunting the hallways. It was quite there, she didn't mind that though. It was just the lack of people reminded her of the cells, of the confines of her jacket, of her collar. And then she felt restless energy that could become dangerous.

Many people seemed anxious to leave, to get back to wherever they came from. She couldn't really relate to that. She had very little to return to, her friends and team mates were divided, she was angry at Tony again, she felt hurt by Vision's betrayal, worried for Rhodey. She wished she knew what happened to the rest of her group; Clint, Scott and Sam. If Steve and Bucky had done what they needed to.

But those weren't things she would get answers to. Instead she had to busy herself in a massive castle where the only other long term inhabitant seemed to be the Toad guard.

Though she'd prefer that no one knew it, the fact was that Natasha put a lot of work into seeming unshakable. Even before she was tasked with being Cap's second in leading the next generation of Avengers, she'd always done her best to make herself seem experienced to the point of practical omniscience; a person so very competent, that any failure that occurred wouldn't be at her hands. When she'd worked alone, she'd found that such confidence was unsettling to any potential adversaries, and thus gave her the upper hand. As a team leader, she knew that any sign of sweat on her part would give her team a reason to doubt their ability to succeed, which could be a death sentence for the inexperienced hero. So, though she'd discarded many of the lessons she'd learned in the Red Room, the refusal to ever seem anything less than entirely within her element was one she held onto tightly.

That was especially important in situations like this one. No matter how many times she woke up in an unfamiliar location, unsure of how she'd gotten there, it would always feel like she was four again, waking up handcuffed to a bedpost and wondering what she'd done to make her mommy and daddy so upset. It took three days in New Leaf for her to stop waking up shaky and full of panic, a phantom ache in her left wrist - two days more than normal. Unacceptable

Her inability to get her mind to settle had stopped her from visiting Wanda earlier, but she was beginning to think that putting off seeing someone she felt responsible for - someone she'd recently failed in a very big way - was only adding to the problem. So, she'd give up the oddly comforting placidity of New Leaf, brace herself for a few sleepless nights, and give Wanda the attention that Natasha owed her. Had owed her for awhile now.

She was stoic as she made her way across Acorn Plains, letting the smiling creatures with mushroom-shaped heads guide her toward Wanda quietly. She didn't react as they reached and entered the castle, face blank even as her eyes scanned the ornate tapestries that decorated the walls. When they reached the door of Wanda's room, she nodded to the guard as he left, features unshifting as she turned to knock.

When Wanda answered, however, alive and whole, Natasha smiled. "Nice digs."

"It's a castle. A Princess' castle." She understood now that it came from a game, what game she still wasn't entirely sure, but it had something to do with mushrooms being good and turtles being bad. Very little in the world made a lot of sense, but Wanda wasn't in a rush to explain it all anyway.

Stepping back from the door, she extended her arm to Natasha, "Come in." There was no point in asking if she wanted to, clearly Natasha had come over for a reason, and Wanda knew that the woman wasn't the sort to idle by a doorway.

Natasha at least knocked, she supposed. "Are you well?" It seemed a proper question, despite being there for a while now, having time to heal from things. Wanda still distinctly remembered using her powers to toss Natasha across an airport -but Clint was pulling his punches and they were supposed to be trying to win.
