Considering Camp Hogwarts Who: Hermione Granger, Gabrielle Delacour, and Minerva McGonagall Where: Hogwarts When: Afternoon and evening of Monday, 31 March What: A visit and a discussion Why: International diplomacy
A vivacious Ravenclaw prefect named Helena met Gabrielle Delacour at the gates of Hogwarts, greeting her in passable if accented French and leading her the long way 'round to Hermione Granger's classroom. Along the way, she pointed out items and people of interest as well as pretty views from the windows (Hermione had straitly cautioned her not to show Gabrielle the lake, and she obeyed without understanding why), interspersed with shy questions about whether one could really study music as well as magic at Beauxbatons, and were the students there nice?
Hermione's precise voice, raised above a murmur of student voices, floated down the hall as Helena and Gabrielle approached. "... experimental design, you will learn how to moderate these charms as the occasion requires. For those of you who are now grumbling because I do not simply hand you the answers, I tell you that I cannot; temperature charms are a rule-of-thumb endeavour, and there is no teacher like experience. Very well, then -- ah, our visitor has arrived."
She crossed the room, rolling up her chalk-dusty robe-sleeve, to shake Gabrielle by the hand and lead her in. "Mademoiselle Delacour, thank you so much for coming. Allow me to present Hogwarts's sixth-year Charms class. Class, this is Mademoiselle Gabrielle Delacour, of the French Embassy."
"Bon soir, mademoiselle," they chorused, sounding oddly unbored by the banal greeting.
"Very nice," said Hermione, a note of amusement in her voice. "You may, as promised, omit one short-answer question on the next examination."
