It was safe to say that Monty was about 90% of Jasper's impulse control.
He had made Monty promise to stop him if he drank too much. Jasper knew what his future held, he pretended he had forgotten most of what Clarke had said, but he hadn't. He tried to ignore his future, the fact he wasn't going to make it, but it was always there. A looming fear. Monty assured him he didn't have to become that person, that he could do better here, but he was off to a really shitty start. Monty wasn't here at the moment, no, he was off doing whatever stupid challenge the angels had set up. So Jasper was stretched out on his bed, broken leg propped up, as he stared at the ceiling.
"I don't need a babysitter," he said in a sullen tone before taking a swig of whatever drink Murphy had handed him. It tasted awful.
He shifted slightly on his bed and tried not to wince as his leg protested. He could barely make it through a day without pain pills and somehow he was supposed to start going back to school on Thursday. That was going to suck so freaking much. He couldn't exactly drop out now, Murphy would kill him, but he just didn't want to go. He wanted Monty.
"Also, why are you always such an asshole to everyone, but me?" His eyes fluttered shut and he braced himself for whatever punch was about to come flying his way. Another irrational thought floated through his mind and he winced. His breathing started to hitch slightly. Shit, no, Murphy was going to sit on him now. Jasper quickly started reciting chemical formula's in his head to calm himself down.
Monty and Bellamy weren't weak. They'd survive.
They had to survive.
"Murph," he pushed himself into a bit more of a sitting up position. "I need my bottle of pain pills, please." Mixing alcohol and pain pills was going to end poorly for Jasper, but he didn't care at the moment. His leg hurt. "And stop dismantling all my hard work! That was going to be a space station, Murphy. Now it is just like...Lego bricks."
