WHO: Faye and Diana
WHAT: Coffee and EARTHQUAKE
WHEN: Set a few minutes before the earthquake hits
WHERE: La Colombe~
WARNINGS: Faye plus Diana plus an earthquake = LOL
STATUS: Complete
Nothing much had changed since Jake had shown up. It wasn't like she was going to change who she was, she never had and she never will. She still did what she always did while she was here. Work and tequila and a little bit of Stiles yapping in her ear but she knew that her living situation would have to change. She doubted that Jake would want her living with Stiles and besides, with Jake here, she did want to hang with him. Stiles had been a good friend, she guessed. Faye wasn't exactly the sentimental type, at least not outwardly. The girl had a lot of feelings that she kept bottled up, but she knew that she owed Stiles a lot. Whatever, he was so busy trying to get his friends out of here that he would barely notice that she was gone.
Like now, she was on her way to work because of course, when you're stuck in LA hell, you had to actually work and make money. Her job at the movie theater was easy enough. All she did was sell tickets and eat candy. She also got to watch movies too but she didn't really care about that. It would probably come in handy in the future when there was something that she wanted to see.
On her way to work, she stopped in the coffee shop to get coffee. The line was long but she had time to kill so she just looked over her phone checking her social media as she moved up in the line. It was when she got a little bit closer that she realized Diana had apparently taken over someone's register and Faye could only smirk. Faye didn't realize where she was, she wasn't even thinking about it but apparently she stepped in the coffee shop that Diana worked at.
That's right bitch. Make my coffee.
Faye stepped up to the counter and she gave Diana a smirk. She hadn't talked to Diana at all since she'd come back to life after being boiled in a stupid mall fountain thanks to Diana. Faye could remember how it felt. How her skin just like melted off and then there was nothing. She was dead. And gone. And she could only imagine what she did with her when it was over. Knowing Diana, she probably just left her there.
Or maybe Faye was just being petty, but hello, Faye was the queen of petty.
Rolling her eyes, Faye reached for her wallet. "Macchiato," she said and pulled out her cash to pay for it because obviously the last thing that Faye wanted to do was actually talk to Diana. It was the reason she had basically moved out. She knew that Diana had been staying with Adam but ever since the crystal skull had arrived, she hoped that Adam kicked her out on her ass.
Great. Diana had been avoiding Faye ever since the angels forced her to kill her. She would never forget the way that Faye’s face looked right before she died. She would never forget the look in Adam’s eyes when he realized that Diana was a monster. He might not say it outloud but Diana was paranoid and assumed that was what he had thought of her, despite the fact that he had invited Diana to stay with him. It was an unnecessary invitation as Faye had more or less disappeared from their apartment. It made sense. She was killed by dark magic so she wasn’t going to stick around Diana and Cassie.
The Circle was falling apart and Diana didn’t really care. She still felt it was Cassie’s responsibility now because she had done what she could and now she had no interest in carrying on with the old ways. But Faye was still her friend and Diana loved her. Sure, she hated her too but she also loved her. Usually.
“It’s on the house, Faye.”
She knew that free coffee wasn’t going to earn her forgiveness from Faye but she figured it couldn’t hurt to start there. She honestly didn’t know what to say to Faye and that was why Diana hadn’t tried to make amends yet. They didn’t sell Hallmark cards with “Sorry I killed you in that death match” printed on them. Maybe she could ask the angels to get to the work on that.
Diana was done with the angels. They had given her purpose for a whole fifteen minutes and it was probably just enough to reel Diana back into the wheelhouse of magic. But she was no longer doing it for the angels, whom she distrusted greatly. She was doing it for herself because she didn’t know what else to do with her pathetic excuse for a life. She had been given these powers, she wanted to use them for good. She wanted to do something that meant something. The angels sucked but they were fighting for something. What was Diana going to do otherwise? Running away to here was as good as running away to any place.
Diana stepped behind the coffee machine and began to make Faye’s drink when the ground started to rumble again. It had been doing that for days so she ignored it at first and that cost her. Because it was during the second rumble that all of the bottles fell from the shelves and the light fixtures crashed to the floor. Screams rang out in the air and now Diana was officially wearing Faye’s coffee.
Faye! Where was she? Diana’s dark eyes searched the debris until she found the raven haired beauty lying underneath one of the lights. “Faye!” With pure intention, Diana used magic to pull the light off of Faye just as the ground started to rumble again.
Faye said nothing and put her money away. Whatever, if Diana’s guilt for what she did got her coffee, that was fine, but that wasn’t going to fix anything. Faye died. She wasn’t really the forgiving type anyway so this would take a lot more than a good cup of freaking java. Faye waited, looking down at her phone when suddenly, the ground started shaking. Jesus, not again. She was so tired of it. But this time it didn’t stop and quickly it got worse. Faye looked around and watched as tables shook and coffee fell to the floor. The stupid woman behind her bumped into Faye, which put her right in harms way of a light fixture falling right on top of her.
“Fuck,” she muttered and felt the glass from the bulbs cut up her skin. Not only that, but they were hot.
Before she had a chance to move it, Diana was lifting it up with her magic and Faye looked at her annoyed. She could take care of herself. She didn’t need Diana ‘saving’ her to prove a point. Whatever. She pushed herself up and as she got up, her eyes were wide as the wall behind Diana started to literally fall and it was aiming for Diana. Instead of using magic though, Faye reached out and grabbed Diana, but Faye tripped over the light fixture and fell back only to have Diana land on top of her.
The ground was still shaking and things were falling all around them. Faye instinctively held onto Diana though and reached to grab a table so she could try and pull it toward them so they didn’t get hit by that dark roast.
Diana and Faye huddled together under the table as the coffee shop fell down around them. She was ready to use magic if she had to in order to save them but for now, Diana was like any other person in the shop trying to save themselves. There were screams in the background and someone fell right in front of their table. Diana didn’t know what happened to him but he stared at her with dead blank eyes as a trickle of blood dripped from his forehead. There was nothing Diana could do to save him. He was already dead.
The feud between the two girls was momentarily forgotten as they continued to shield themselves with the table. Bottles broke in the background as they smashed into the ground. Diana watched as the ground literally opened up a few feet in front of her and swallowed two screaming customers. She gasped, her heart pounding furiously in her chest as she watched her workplace crash down around her.
Time seemed to slow down and the quake felt like it lasted a lifetime. Diana thought it would never end and there was nothing she could do to fight it. The angels didn’t care about dark magic when it came right down to it. Diana was only as powerful as they let her be. She supposed that was true of everything in this universe.
Eventually, the ground stopped rumbling and came to a stop. Diana held her breath for thirty seconds before pushing herself up from the floor. She stood on unsteady legs and surveyed the damage for a few minutes. She sighed and put her hand to her head, exasperated. Only a tiny trickle of light filled the room from small openings in the broken walls. They were going to need to seriously rebuild after this.
“What was the point of that?” Diana demanded. Not that it mattered. Nobody would answer her question.
The earthquake seemed to last a lifetime as they both hid underneath a table. Faye couldn’t stop herself from screaming when she watched as a dead body fell right in front of them. She turned her head away and held onto whatever she could until everything stopped. Her eyes were closed but once she felt Diana move, Faye shifted where she was and opened her eyes. It was dark. Except for a ray of light that was barely shining in.
“What the hell was that?” She said and continued sitting there, resting against her hands before she managed to get herself up. She was covered in her dust and whatever else that was white all over her new black jeans. Damnit. She loved these jeans and they were pretty much ruined.
“Uh, because the angels are dicks. You know, the angels you want to stay and fight for?” Faye couldn’t help but let that slip from her lips and whatever, it was true. Diana and Cassie wanted to stay in this city while Faye wanted a first plane ticket out. Only idiots and masochists wanted to stay here and be bullied around by angels and Faye wasn’t one of them. In fact, she was terrified. But of course, she tried to not show it.
They appeared to be trapped for the time being but they had magic and they could get out of here and the faster that Faye was away from Diana, the better. What? As if Faye holding a grudge was anything new. It wasn’t. And Faye had good reason. Then again, if it was Faye who had killed Diana, Faye knew she would be on the receiving end of all of this.
There were people laying around and Faye glanced at Diana. Obviously they needed medical attention but there was no way out. And Faye wasn’t sure if she could do this all by herself. She didn’t think she would have to. Diana, despite killing Faye wasn’t a horrible person. And she knew that. Faye was just pissed at her.
Faye started to concentrate on a piece of concrete that was blocking their way. One of many. It shook a little, but then Faye heard a scream and it broke her concentration.
Diana’s faith had been shaken when it came to the angels but Faye didn’t need to know about Diana’s struggle with the future. She didn’t know what to do with herself, didn’t know if she could find the right path. It was quite the conundrum for the girl who used to serve as everyone’s moral compass.
“You could stop being mad at me any day now,” Diana said.
She wasn’t sure why she decided to have this particular argument in that particular moment. It was the only time the two girls had been in the same room for any extended period of time since Diana had killed Faye. Unfortunately, somebody else had other ideas and a scream stole their attention.
Both witches got to the same spot at the same time. Somebody was hurt and Diana didn’t know what to do. She immediately reached for her phone to call 911. Surprisingly, she had service but when she dialed 911 there was a busy signal.
“Busy?!” she demanded. “How can 911 be busy?!” Diana shot Faye a helpless look.
“Why would I do that? Hating you is much more fun,” Faye said easily and rolled her eyes. Luckily, their conversation didn’t go further because someone screamed and the girls ran in that direction. “Ew,” she said, not helping it. It kind of just slipped out. The guy’s lower leg was crushed and there was blood and, “This is so gross,” she said.
The guy shot her a look and she looked at Diana then while Diana called 911. And apparently that didn’t work. “Um, okay …” She looked around and there was a dead body not far from them. “I think I’m going to freaking vom,” she said then and stepped over the guy they were helping and leaned over the dead person. She grabbed the t-shirt from the hem and pulled it up, trying to not touch the dead body because this was gross enough. When she pulled a little more, the person lifted a little, their arms moving slowly as she finally pulled the t-shirt free.
She walked back and stepped over the gross guy again and ripped the shirt so she could tie it around his leg to stop whatever blood flow or whatever. At least she thought she was doing something right. She wasn’t even sure right now.
“That’s good right? He’s not going to like bleed to death or anything?” She looked at Diana. Diana would know. Because that was just Diana.
“I don’t…” Know. Diana didn’t know. That was what she wanted to say because she really didn’t know. People still looked to her for guidance but it was a joke because Diana never actually knew what she was talking about. She did what she could, tried to make the right decisions but she no longer saw the value in that. Diana’s entire identity had been called into question since finding out that her father was John Blackwell.
“I don’t think so.”
Diana let out another long breath and looked around the room. They had to find a way out or a way to call for help. 911 wasn’t responding and that meant that Faye and Diana needed to take charge. The thing was, Diana wasn’t fond of taking charge anymore. She wanted Cassie to do it. But even Cassie had defaulted to her which Diana didn’t understand since it seemed a natural progression. Cassie had slowly taken control ever since she came to town. It wasn’t her fault, Diana didn’t even blame her. It was meant to be, or whatever. Fate. Written in the stars. Gag.
She didn’t want to use dark magic now that the immediate threat to their lives had passed. The guy with the crushed leg wasn’t having a good day but Diana didn’t think he would bleed out if it took them a little time to get out. There were others around too, but Diana didn’t recognize them.
“Faye, we can make ourselves a way out of here, get help.” Diana said it so seriously, it was almost like the old days had come back to reign. She wasn’t the innocent girl she used to be but Diana still wanted to do right.
Yeah, Faye didn’t think so either and she was just annoyed more than anything at this point. This was such a lame freaking day. Sure, there were dead bodies around and that was sad or whatever, but since Faye died and came back, she just figured everyone else here would too. Because apparently that’s how it worked in LA? Of course, if Jake or Erica or Stiles were to die, then Faye would have been upset. Like she was when she heard about Erica. But these people, she didn’t know them so she didn’t have feelings about them either way. It was better them than her at this point. She had to look out for herself.
“Fine, let’s do it,” she said and got up from the guy who had the crushed leg. He started to say something and Faye made a face. “As if you can even walk. You’ll live.” She rolled her shoulders and looked at Diana. “Well, come on dark magic princess.” She let that sit there but of course, Faye would help. She wanted out of here. The thought that the people who actually cared about her were out there and could be hurt did pain her a little. She couldn’t help that. Diana wasn’t one of those people and it was obvious she was fine.
She kicked around a few things on the floor before coming to the pile of crap that was literally blocking the door and window. She started grabbing what she could it started to make a little leeway towards the window that was surprisingly still in one piece. At least that one anyway. There was so much that was blocking it but between the two of them they could get to it. She just had to climb this. “Screw it.” Faye managed to step on a piece of wobbly fixture so she could make her way on top of the pile.
It wasn’t like Faye to skip an opportunity to use magic so she could do manual labor instead. Diana watched with folded arms and an arched eyebrow as Faye made her way up the pile of debris. She was going to break her neck doing that and she would probably still find a way to blame that on Diana. She rolled her eyes and sighed again. This was never going to be fixed because there was nothing to fix, not really. The last fight they had was epic but Faye and Diana were meant to always be at odds with one another. It was their way.
The pile shifted a little bit and Faye wobbled.
“Faye!” Diana yelled. “Get through the window already or come back down.”
Diana didn’t want to do dark magic. She wanted to do paired magic with Faye but Faye was being stubborn as usual. So Diana took control and tried to use her power to keep the pile in one piece. It wanted to badly break apart, Diana could feel it inside her mind as she kept it weaved together. But it gave Faye enough time to slip through the window and disappear.
Diana let go of the spell she had been using to hold the pile of junk together. She really hoped that Faye would go and get help. But frankly, she didn’t trust her to do that. She was pretty sure that Faye would go and find Jake and be done with it.
Faye managed to get through the pile of crap and she when she landed outside, she looked at the coffee shop and a slow smile spread to her lips. It wasn’t magic, but Faye managed to get out on her own and little princess Diana was still stuck inside. Which was surprising really, but whatever. It wasn’t Faye’s problem. The only thing that Faye cared about was getting to Jake or even Erica and Stiles.
And she did just that. She walked away. But each stupid step she took, she felt like a bitch. Which worked, really. Faye was a bitch. But she didn’t want to feel like a guilty bitch. “God, I can’t even,” she said outloud, clearly frustrated as she turned around. She saw a group of people helping others out of another building and then she saw cops and EMTS and she waved her arms, flagging them down.
It was minutes later when they were getting shit out of the way to make their way inside and minutes after that, Faye saw Diana walking out.
“You’re welcome.” Faye said, giving her a small smirk but that didn’t change anything. She was still pissed as hell at her. She was hurt too. Everything just fucking sucked and Faye officially hated angels. She wasn’t even sure there was a God at this point. Nothing was worth it anymore and nothing made sense. Faye was losing what little faith she had in anything.
Diana thought for sure that Faye had just left them. She was annoyed but she knew that she could take care of everyone inside with her magic. It was just that if Faye left and they couldn’t do magic together, Diana either had her regular magic or she had dark magic. After using dark magic, regular magic felt weak, almost useless unless she had another witch at her side to strengthen the spell. Diana had wanted to do magic with Faye but she had skipped out.
After she checked on the hurt man, she went back to the wall to inspect it for weak points. She figured she would have to find the exact right spot to carve herself out a door. She didn’t want to risk the integrity of the structure anymore than it already had been. But just as she was about to risk it, she heard voices on the other side of the wall and she stepped back to see emergency services arrive. Diana directed them quickly to the hurt man before walking out and seeing Faye’s smug face.
“No, Faye. You’re welcome. I’m the reason you didn’t break your neck climbing up that pile of debris. You could have waited for five minutes so we could have planned something together instead of running off on your own. I get that you’re mad about what happened at the mall but can you understand that one of us had to end it? I’m sorry that you’re not as strong as I am. I wish that you were, Faye. I really wish I could trade places with you. I don’t want this but I have it. What am I supposed to do with it? What would have made you happy? If I killed myself? Would you have been happy then? Because the angels forced me to take you down. That wasn’t my choice and you act like it was.”
They were out of danger for the moment and Diana figured now was as good a time as any to clear the air. But Diana wasn’t really expecting much from this conversation. She and Faye would always be at odds for one reason or another.
The smugness on her lips started to slow fade with each stupid word that Diana spoke. God, she was so sick of her. Wah, poor me, I have all this magic and I’m just so sad about it. What the fuck ever. Faye knew she enjoyed killing her. Faye saw it in her eyes. That dark magic just consumed her little dainty fucking fingers and Diana just had no choice but to unleash it. What. Crap. Faye didn’t believe it for a second. And she didn’t want to believe it. Because she didn’t want to believe that they would be forced to do this. That this was only just the fucking beginning. Killing people? That was their first test. It could only get worse from here, she thought.
“Yes!” She yelled out impulsively. But no. No, this was so fucking messed up. But was that the truth? Would Faye had rather Diana killed herself? Faye always thought it was better off someone than her, but that couldn’t be said for Melissa. She wouldn’t want that for her. Would she want it for Diana? Rolling her eyes, she looked at Diana then.
“Obviously - no, I wouldn’t have wanted you to kill yourself. I fucking hate this!” And she did. She hated being here. She hated that they were held against their will and she hated the fact that one of her friends was forced to kill her. She tried to not think about it. She definitely didn’t talk about it. But closing her eyes, she saw it. She saw Diana’s eyes, the way her toes scraped against the mall floor, the way she levitated and then she remembered the water. How hot it was. How scared she was and Faye hated every second of it. She felt weak. She didn’t want to feel weak.
Because yeah, whatever. Dark magic was stronger than regular magic but Faye had a good grasp on it and she only wanted more. She had the crystal skull in her back pocket because of Adam and with the thoughts of going after Diana, she still hadn’t.
“You know what? I don’t even care.” It was easier to say that then get into this - whatever it was. Nothing would fucking change so what the was point of it all?
“And I’m over it.” Hell fucking no, she wasn’t over it, but she had to be. If Faye thought logically, she would know that this had to do with her own hangups and her own fear. Not Diana. But Faye was so quick to blame everyone else for her own problems and unfortunately that would never change.
“You don’t sound like you don’t care or that you’re over it, Faye!” Diana exclaimed. She could take Faye’s shit and ignore her sometimes, probably easier than other people did but this situation was different. This situation was about how Diana had been forced to kill Faye. And while the angels had certainly forced their hands, Diana had taken the tiniest bit of pleasure in killing Faye until it hit her what she had actually done.
There were tears streaming down Diana’s face when she looked at Faye now. It wasn’t unlike Diana to cry. She cried in front of Adam, she cried in front of Cassie, sometimes she even cried in front of Melissa. But Faye? Never.
“That was the worst day of my life. When I had to move your body. When I saw what I had done to you, what I had become. I’m a monster, Faye. You should hate me. But that was the worst day of my life. I swear to God! I would do anything to take it back! Just tell me how to make it right with you. I’ll do anything.”
Oh boy, that had slipped out before Diana had thought too hard about it. Because Diana had dark magic and Faye loved powers. She had the feeling she would be doing more bad things before this thing was over and done with.
Are you fucking serious? That’s what Faye was thinking at that point because she didn’t think that Diana would ever apologize for what she had done, more than that, she was fucking crying? Not even crying, but sobbing. Oh God, this was freaking amazing. Faye couldn’t help but feel a little bit better at how badly Diana sinking because of this. Did she think that Diana was a monster? Not really. No. She knew that Diana was forced, she knew that the angels were making them do this, but that didn’t mean that Faye wasn’t pissed. It didn’t mean that maybe somewhere and someway, they could have found another way. It was as if the girls were just like fuck it and they went at it and Diana should have known that Faye would have died. Faye loved power, she wanted all of it, but it was nothing compared to dark magic.
Diana knew that.
And Faye’s insides were starting to get a little mushy too. Ugh, she hated this. But when Diana said anything, Faye almost thought she didn’t hear it, but no, Diana definitely said that.
“Anything?” She asked, looking at Diana almost innocently. She hadn’t gotten misty eyed listening to Diana. She might have shook her a little but Faye wouldn’t waiver in front of Diana, at least not right now. Not when Diana was taking all the blame and good. She should.
“Fine,” she said. She knew what she could do. She wanted that dark magic. She wanted to feel it. She wanted to have her own fun. And she knew exactly where to start.
“I want dark magic.” She saw Diana’s face. Please, as if she couldn’t transfer power. Or find a way to. “You are going to transfer that magic into me, I want to feel what you felt before you, you know, killed me.”
Diana shook her head. “Faye, trust me, even if I knew how to transfer my magic to you, you don’t know what you’re asking for. You don’t want to feel what I felt that day.”
She wished there was some way for her to show Faye around inside of her head, for her to relive that terrible day through Diana instead of herself but there was no way around it. Living was better than dying and Diana lived that day because her magic was stronger. Even if it was the worst day of Diana’s life. Worse than even the day she discovered that her father was a liar who had killed Cassie’s mother. Killing Faye was so much worse than that. Having Adam see exactly what she was capable of was so much worse than that. But like Faye, Adam was attracted to dark magic. He just expressed it differently, mostly by making moon eyes at The Blackwell Sisters.
“I don’t know how to just hand over my magic. You have to be a Balcoin witch. You don’t have the mark.” Diana held out her hand as if Faye hadn’t seen it a thousand times before. Of course, she had. Faye coveted that mark. She was jealous and she wanted it. Diana wasn’t sure that she could give it away or if she even should. She wanted to turn to Adam or Cassie for guidance but they weren’t here at the moment.
“Why don’t I do some magic for you. We could go have fun or get you some new clothes or… whatever. Maybe we could get a puppy or a kitten and teach it how to communicate with us. Wouldn’t that be cool?”
Diana’s tears were still sticky on her cheeks but they had stopped rolling so fiercely. Now she was bargaining. She made an offer and she couldn’t follow through on it.
Faye stared down at the mark. God, she wanted that mark. She wanted it all. And there had to be a way to transfer all of it. Even for a day. But even Faye knew that it could have been impossible and maybe that was why she asked for it. To see what DIana said, to see what else she would offer. Kitten or a puppy? No thanks. Although, she wouldn’t have minded a kitten. But that’s not what she wanted right now. She wanted power. She wanted to feel it in her fingertips. She wanted to be strong. She was way past unlocking and locking doors.
Her eyes stared at Diana, a little stoically as she listened to Diana’s offers.
“I want bigger than clothes or a freaking puppy, Diana” Although, clothes didn’t seem half bad either if she was honest, but no, she would always want bigger. “I mean, you do get the emotional damage of dying right? Coming back and knowing that people you considered friends didn’t really care because at least you lived?” Okay, so maybe that was just Adam. Faye knew that Cassie didn’t owe her anything but Adam, while he didn’t either and it was obvious who he would have chosen, it still sucked. She also knew that Diana really owed her nothing either. So basically, Faye was still screwed from getting what she wanted. The world was crumbling around them and the two girls were standing on a street corner, bargaining and Faye was still a selfish bitch because that’s something about her that would never change.
“Fine, let’s do magic together then.” Faye said and looked around, rolling her eyes. She would say in style at least, with a convertible and a bottle of tequila, but the city was freaking falling apart.
Diana let go of the breath she was holding. While she did not want the responsibility of dark magic, she didn’t think Faye should have it either. Ideally, none of them should have it. Even Cassie could get a little too reckless for Diana’s tastes. The only one of them that could probably responsibly handle this kind of magic was Adam. But Diana didn’t want him to be burdened with that kind of thing. No. It had to be her and Cassie. They were the only ones. Well, them and their four missing siblings.
She nodded eagerly at Faye. “Any spell you want,” she started and when Faye lit up Diana realized her mistake again. She was going to owe Faye for awhile and Faye would absolutely push the limits of what Diana would do for her. There was quite a lot that Diana was willing to do these days. She wasn’t as uptight as she used to be but she still had to draw the line sometimes. Someone had to. Cassie was honestly a little too free wheeling with her magic for Diana’s comfort but she knew that Cassie would only use it for important things. Diana was about to use it to make Faye’s life convenient and fun. It wasn’t exactly responsible.
Screw it. It wasn’t responsible of her mother to screw John Blackwell. It wasn’t responsible of her father to kill Cassie’s mother and lie to her about her true lineage for sixteen years. It wasn’t responsible of John to try and cause a witch genocide for anyone without Balcoin blood. Nobody was ever responsible anymore. The only truly good person left in their circle was Adam, now that Melissa was still missing in action.
“Let’s start with food. I don’t know about you, but I’m starving. We should get out of here,” Diana said, glad that Faye was at least talking to her again.
