Adrian's smirk fell when Sage didn't even acknowledge what he said, but why would she. She had issues, this much he knew and he knew it first hand. She was gorgeous but her mind told her otherwise and it was such a shame. He didn't point it out, no, he would never - at least at the moment. He didn't want to ruin a perfect a night. Turning his head, he let his eyes dance along her body as he couldn't help it. He felt so connected to Sage sometimes. He thought they would be quite a pair but maybe it was him. He tried too hard. It was something that never would actually change. Adrian was a try hard.
"She is having fun," Adrian nodded, looking out into the crowd. He fell silent then as he stood there, his mind a non stop manic thought process that went from one thought to the next and then the next and then the next. He brought his drink to his lips, swallowing down the contents until he heard her voice.
He couldn't help but smile as he turned his body, the side of it resting against the wall, even leaning the side of his head against it as he looked at her.
"Do you think so, Sage?" He asked her, reaching for her chin, fingertips lightly brushing against her skin. "You tell me I am, but I feel you'd very much rather be talking to anyone else but me right now." He swallowed at that as he dropped his hand. All he wanted was her time. Her company. He wasn't asking for much but he found himself yearning most days to just find a reason to see her.
"I've been feeling it a little too much. Spirit, plus I tried hard to block this from Jill, so I have been taking extra trips to the bar lately," he smiled then and glanced over at Jill, but his eyes weren't there for long.
He turned and leaned in close to Sage, his lips barely touching her ear as he whispered.
"To me, you're the most beautiful woman in this room." He pulled back, his eyes on her. His stare would have nearly grown longer but his glass was empty and he didn't want to give her the chance to push him away.
"Vodka is calling me, darling. I have to take it," he smiled then as if he was not bothered by any of this and he turned and walked toward the bar to get himself a refill.
