Man, if anything the last two months had shown Mason just how much stronger and comfortable in her own skin Jill had gotten. He first noticed it when they were taking out the demon. Even before then. Mason was hesitant on letting her go. He had caught her sneaking out and his first instinct was bringing her inside and telling Eddie about it, but there was something that changed that night. There was no reason a Moroi couldn't fight for their own and besides, he would have been there with her. It was the night he actually felt something for her that was more than what he was supposed to feel and it was a night he would never forget.
"Well, I'm working, but ... yeah. I am. Actually." He smiled and looked over at her. Jill was tall, like most Moroi. They were always tall, slender, gorgeous - like models. Their skin was like porcelain. They looked so fragile but he knew that Jill wasn't.
"It's your birthday, how could I not have fun? Is it everything you wanted?" He asked. The attention, the party - it was all for her. For once. It was about her. Glancing around, he saw a look from Eddie and the smile on his face faded just a little before he looked back at Jill.
Raising his eyebrows, he shook his head. "Oh, Rose - right." He swallowed. "Eddie just cares about you a lot, so of course we went along with probably the worst plan we could, but you're right. You're a lot better, a lot stronger than you used to be." Yes, he did know about her water magic moment. He never brought it up. He never felt the need to. Besides, even Mason in all of his teasing ways knew that it was personal so he chose not to.
"Look, I can't be here long. You know how Eddie gets and you should be with your friends, but ..." He turned his back to Eddie and pulled out the box that was in his pocket.
He had saved up his money to get this for her. He knew she loved fashion and he knew that she might want to try modeling. In the box was a charm bracelet with charms attached. One for her birthstone, one, which was a high heeled shoe and there were a few others on there. He handed her the box and waited for her to open it. Hopefully before Eddie saw.
