"Hey," he finally said, his eyes darting around for a moment. Eddie was busy talking a blonde who was - wait, was that Mia? Mason frowned only for a moment before his eyes were on the girl in front of him, looking at him. She looked ... wow. "You look great. Gorgeous," he corrected and knew it wasn't okay for him to say that, but he did. And well, Eddie was out of earshot, so it was okay. Unless it wasn't? Either way, Mason couldn't help but like Jill. She was fun to get along with and they were always together.
He fell silent after that, which wasn't entirely like him but he didn't want to seem ... like that guy. The guy he was with Rose who sometimes didn't even care if she liked him or not. He didn't want to pretend with Jill.
"It looks great. Adrian really outdid himself." But didn't he always go a little over the top? He was always trying to impress and even Mason could tell that was exactly what the Moroi Royal was doing again tonight. But it was different. Mason could clearly see that Adrian cared about Jill. Just not in the way that Mason did - thank God.
"Even the bitches from school are here, you showed them, huh?" He grinned, giving her a nudge. The blue really made everything about her just pop. It was like he was noticing her in a new light, but the new light didn't matter much. He already thought she was cute.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Mason was here tonight, working naturally. It was really a twenty four hour job being a guardian and that much wouldn't change. He still had the box in his pocket, burning a hole but he didn't want to take it out in case Eddie would see.
