Mia/Rose or Eddie, plz
Mia had one singular purpose ever since her mother had been killed by a group of Strigoi: see them all destroyed.
It was difficult, being that she was a Moroi. She was raised to be guarded, not a guardian. Even though her non-royal status almost assured that she'd have no guardian, so, really, she should have been raised as the latter.
Nevertheless, she was a quick study by virtue of her determination. It was easy to throw yourself into something when you had vengeance on your mind. Mia couldn't rest until they ended the Strigoi's existence once and for all so that no other girl would end up motherless, like her.
The dhampirs had an edge on her. They were built for the type of brute strength needed to take down something as fierce and powerful as their foe. But she had her fury. For her, it was personal, not just a sense of duty. Few of the dhampirs could relate, the exceptions she knew personally being Rose and Eddie. One of them had watched Mason die and the other had been his best friend. In some way, they were all responsible. All of them had acted in a way that had indirectly led to their kidnapping and his eventual death at the hands of the Strigoi.
Mia also had her magic. You might not think water was all that impressive but she'd used it to save Rose's life and since then, she'd been working diligently on honing it as a craft despite the fact that it was strictly forbidden. Who cared about the rules when the rules didn't save anyone?
She knew she was getting better and harder and stronger every day but not so much that some freaking angels had decided she'd make a good solider in some stupid war of theirs.
Mia had no intention of falling in line but she was intent on getting some answers which is why she found herself already attending party her first night there. It was being thrown by Adrian Ivashkov who was a royal who wasn't famous so much as he was infamous. She may or may not have even told everyone that Rose was screwing him during the ski trip, and she may or may not have been right about that. The party was for Jill, whoever that was. She really didn't care about the specifics here, just about getting to the bottom of things.
Dodging a drunk guy who tried to pull her in for a kiss, Mia made a face as she found a place against the wall to stand and wait for someone who actually mattered to show up.
