mason/jill
Mason couldn't help but be excited for this night. They had tried to keep it from her for as long as they could, but come on, she had to know, right? With her connection to Adrian and the fact that people were being a little secretive mixed with her birthday coming up - she totally knew. Mason didn't take her for an idiot. He even thought surprising her for anything was completely out of the question. The girl was sharp and witty and he liked it. Maybe a little too much.
The two of them had gotten closer since their encounter with the demon. It was pretty cool, watching after her, guarding her, but she had spark and she was a breeze to watch. Sometimes he got a look from Eddie like maybe Mason had stepped out of line, but one thing was for sure and that was Mason took his job as guardian seriously. He wasn't even official, but he acted like it. He was just say, a little more loose than Dimitri probably was. And even Eddie. But that didn't mean he didn't love his job and respect it. Her safety came first. They always came first.
She came first.
But, he did manage to get her a present. A gift. It was in his pocket, in a box. He kind of didn't want Eddie to see it or know of it, but he knew that eventually he would. Right now, Mason looked around at all the party goers who were in the ballroom. Whatever Adrian had done was impressive. The place looked pretty cool. He almost wished he could have a sweet sixteen with all the food and decorations that were around. It looked like money was definitely no object for him, even here.
Or it was compulsion.
He spoke with Eddie for a moment, just about guardian things and what areas to cover before they disbanded and went their separate ways. He knew Rose was on the other side, looking out as well. Rose being here was pretty cool too. He missed her, well, he loved her and cared about her when he ... died, but now things were different. He still cared but his charms were being enjoyed by someone else. And he liked it like that.
Mason's eyes scanned over the crowd and he saw Jill talking with some girls from school. She looked like she was enjoying herself and didn't realize that he was smiling as he watched her. Not until she was staring at him and he found himself straightening up, looking at anything and anyone but her. Duty came first. Not his whimsical stares.
