“Like, I don’t even know where it came from. He was just like, ‘do you want to be?’ and that pissed me the hell off. Like, what the hell did I do? Adam was the one who called me easy. I’m not easy.” She had looked at Melissa then and asked her, “Am I easy? I only fuck Jake and okay, so we’re not exactly shy about it, but that doesn’t make me easy. It’s with my boyfriend. Also? If I’m fucking easy, then Jake’s easy. But no, apparently, I can’t even bait freaking Adam into anything because there’s Jake telling me I’m wrong and I’m a whore. Ugh. So over it.”
The two girls were walking down the sidewalk while Faye did that whole over dramatization thing because that’s what she did. She made a big deal about the things she cared about she fucking loved Jake, so of course she was making a big deal of it. Melissa was surprisingly quiet though which just made Faye talk more.
“So whatever, I went to the apartment and got my shit out. He’s going to come home and probably want a make up blow job but I won’t be there to do it.” Of course, that just meant that some other girl would be there. Because there would be another girl. Because he was Jake. And Jake always had to have the last word. She pouted at that as she walked.
She had seen that Jake’s day had gotten worse and normally, Faye would have been all over that, but at that moment, she was so mad that she figured he deserved it. But really, it didn’t matter if he deserved it or not, Faye would have been there defending him. She just wasn’t there with him today. She was so done.
“I just want to get drunk and dance.” That’s what she planned on doing anyway. It was still only seventy six out and didn’t feel like winter at all. She had on a pair of tight black jeans, a red blouse and a black hoodie to cover it, but once she took the hoodie off, the boobs came out and Faye knew that she was going to get all the attention she wanted.
It wasn’t like she was going to screw someone. Her legs only opened for Jake, even now but she didn’t mind boys wishing they could open for them.
“Of course you're not easy,” Melissa affirmed in one of her few interjections into Faye’s little monologue. She wasn't completely sure how Adam’s dick comment became Jake's problem but the boys of the circle all had the emotional intelligence of a 12 year old so whatever it was, it was totally still Jake’s fault.
...Probably.
To her own end, Melissa was busy pouting about things with Nick. He'd said some seriously hurtful things to her when he was all soulless or whatever but that wasn't even what she was mad about. She didn't blame him for the things he'd said while he wasn't himself but she definitely did blame him for how he'd acted since he'd gotten his soul back. All that time and they hadn't even seen each other. She'd been back at her own apartment, sleeping in her own bed, just trying to duck and cover from the hurtful things he kept coming up with. But he gets back to his usual self and doesn't reach out to apologize or say that he missed her or even asked her to come home.
‘Cause that's what his room had been to her ever since he'd gotten here. Her home. All the nights she'd tended to him whatever his mood, whatever influence he was under, waking up in the middle night as he clung desperately to her as he tried to keep the nightmares at bay. Melissa had bent herself backward trying to be everything he needed, from lover to friend, shield to sword, anything. And the thanks she got was to “not revolve her life around him"?
It was crap.
And then he had the nerve to mention that he loved her which was totally emotional blackmail. It made her feel bad when what she wanted was to feel mad instead.
Clad in a soft black lambskin leather mini skirt and a darker black top with a v-neck so deep, you could almost see her navel, Melissa was dressed like she lived on tips because, well, she did. Her heels clacked along the pavement, a necessary boost to her diminutive height as she tried to keep up with Faye who was angry-walking.
When they reached the bar, Melissa pulled the door open for her bestie, stopping to scrunch her hair up a little in case it had fallen somewhat flat during the day before she followed her favorite dark-haired beauty to the bar. Whipping out a $100 bill from her bra, she made eye contact with the bartender.
“That's all yours, cowboy. All you have to do is keep the Patron flowing and make sure our glasses are never empty until we say ‘when’.” Melissa informed him, raising a brow as she turned back to Faye to wait for the first round.
“We're going to forget all about the Armstrong brothers tonight,” She promised her.
And they did. The drinks kept coming and Faye was swallowing it down like it was freaking water. The more she drank, the more she moved and the more she moved, the hotter she got. She was lightheaded and flying high at this point, her body twisting to whatever song was playing as Melissa sat in the chair. She swayed her hips over only to move back again as she watched her friend and laughed. She seriously needed a night out, they hadn’t done this in for-fucking-ever.
She grabbed the shot glass and held it up only to swallow it down. “Fuck!” She shook her head and laughed, then slammed the glass down on the bar before she unzipped her hoodie. She obviously was getting attention. Her boobs were pushed up and cleavage was pouring as everything else on her was tight, showing her curvy figure. Faye kept dancing, even dancing her way up to Melissa so she could pull her down from that stupid stool she was sitting on and away from her phone.
“He’s not texting you. Not tonight,” Faye told her. Not to rub it in her face, but to let her know to let loose and just go with it.
The two of them danced for what felt like hours. Shot after shot Faye was getting messy and then she felt her phone vibrate.
“OH!” She yelled out. “That fucking tickled,” she said, her voice completely slurred at this point as she pulled out her phone.
Melissa had originally started out trying to pace herself for the sake of being a good wingman since Jake and Faye had actually broken up and she was merely pouting while Nick waited for her to get over it and come around.
Not that Jake and Faye didn't break up every other week as it was but still.
But being around Faye was infectious and Melissa couldn't help but party just as hard. And anyway, she had earned it. She'd been out there tracking and killing demons like, totally legit. She'd worked her ass off to help her friends and now they were all back to normal so it was time to freaking turn up because they'd all made it out alive.
Her phone started going off right at the same time as Faye’s and she made a kissy face as she saw Nick’s face on the network.
“He is sooo fine,” Melissa murmured aloud to no one in particular, slurring pretty significantly as she tried to decipher all the words on her screen. Blah blah blah, something about elections. Faye wanted someone named David which she figured was probably the hot ass bartender who was dangerously close to cutting them off.
That was when Melissa decided that Oprah would be the perfect person to lead the circle.
For some reason, the words appearing on her screen weren't matching the ones in her head and before she knew it, Faye was freaking out that ‘they’ were coming! Melissa didn't know who ‘they’ were but it sounded serious.
And speaking of serious, she seriously wanted some Tesco ball Taco Bell.
“Let's get out of here before they find us!” Melissa hollered. She could barely even walk at that point but she grabbed Faye's hand and they somehow managed to run down the street without faceplanting, giggling all the way.
All Faye knew was that Jake was pissed. Like, she knew that. And well, logically, he probably had a right, but right now, Faye didn’t think he did. After all, she was the easy one and oh, they broke up for like the millionth time and Faye swore this time it was different because it was going to last. So Faye had no problem running out of the bar and down the sidewalk and surprisingly she didn’t watch Melissa fall on her ass. At least Faye was wearing boots as they ran, moving in and out of groups as they tried to find their next destination.
“Melissa!” Faye yelled loudly because well, she had to because then Melissa wouldn’t hear her, but people just looked at her and she made a face.
“The fuck are you looking at?!” She slowed her movements and turned around and looking at some girl who was probably her age. Faye had so much to drink tonight, she was already easy to set off and right now, this girl was like the answer to all of her rage. Right now, everything in her freaking life that was going wrong was because of her but obviously, it wasn’t.
The girl got smart with Faye because duh but Faye just smiled sweetly, yet her eyes told a different story. Just as Melissa showed up, Faye was always repeating an incantation literally over and over until suddenly the girl screamed. “... burning star, blood red eye,” Faye finished, her own eyes narrowing as she stepped back.
“What now, bitch?” Faye laughed and looked at Melissa. “What?” She stumbled.
“My panties are twisted,” Melissa complained loudly, staggering a bit as she pulled her skirt up to her waist with one hand, using the other to adjust them. Ugh, butt floss! “Literally!” She was debating just taking them off and being done with it when she caught sight of Faye and hurried to catch up with her instead. She tried to pull her skirt back down as she ran but the end result was basically twisted and still halfway up her thighs.
Faye had released some mojo on a rando and Melissa didn't know if she was horrified or impressed so she just laughed, even as a cop approached them.
“I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask the two of you to come along with me,” He said sternly.
“What?!” Melissa demanded. “What did we do?”
“Let's see, public intoxication for both of you, and you,” He added, pointing at Melissa. “Public indecency and you,” The cop pointed to Faye. “I don't know what the Hell you just did but I saw it, freak.”
Melissa’s face curled up in outrage.
“YOU CAN'T TALK TO MY BEST FRIEND LIKE THAT!” She screamed, a strong arm wrapping around her from behind, pulling her away just as she swung at the cop, barely missing him with a surprisingly accurate aim despite the fact that she was thoroughly trashed.
Faye and Jake broke up, must be a Wednesday.
Nick did his best to stay out of his brother’s drama. Actually, it was safe to say Nick tried his hardest to stay out of everyone’s drama. The whole soulless stunt meant he had been a bit more, uh, honest with his words. The result of attempting to apologize was now drunk texting a vote for Oprah or Okra. He a killer headache now and walked next to his brother. In one hand he had a bag of Taco Bell and in the other he had one of Melissa’s necklaces.
His face was fixed solely on the necklace as he channeled the spell.
“Left up ahead,” he stated as he glanced up at his brother. This was ridiculous. Why did their girlfriends have to be so dramatic? Every day he battled with his own problems and somehow it was bleeding into his relationship. He hadn’t been trying to push Melissa away, he had been trying to tell her he got it. She had a life.
He was trying to have a life too. He went to school, shocking, and was actually trying to get good grades. Not that it was too hard, he wasn’t dumb or anything. Back home he had just focused more on selling drugs and causing trouble. Here? He may have still being selling drugs on the downlow, but he actually wanted to make something of his second chance at life.
Yet he kept dealing with drama. The Circle, the girls, his life.
It just never fucking ended.
He heard them before he saw them. Nick reacted without thinking. The bag of Taco Bell hit the ground and exploded. Tacos, cheesy gordita crunches, and everything else spilling every which way. The necklace was wrapped around his wrist so he didn’t drop it as he ran. Thank God for small favors, he didn’t need his girlfriend yelling at him for losing some of her jewelry. He turned his face away from Melissa as he wrapped an arm around her waist, yanking her back hard. That mean right hook looked painful and he didn’t want her hitting him in the face.
“Whoa there, killer.” He shot Jake a look and motioned with his chin to the cop. This was bad, like really bad. “I told you to stay where you were, Melissa.”
Jake was having a shit day. Well, that was likely an understatement. It was a shit day all around and it seemed like things were already getting worse. It all had started when Diana had opened her fucking mouth to talk to him. Seriously, he didn’t know what the fuck her problem was but apparently he was a horrible human being and couldn’t do shit right.
Then there was fucking Faye. It must have been Wednesday because she was randomly pissing him off too. Though he was pretty sure that it was his anger from that bullshit with Diana that was really the cause for his jackass attitude today. Still, it left his relationship on the rocks and him and Faye broken up which left Faye to do some stupid shit.
And Jake alone to think about doing some stupid shit.
He had made up his mind about leaving the circle and had already warned Nick and Cassie, but before anyone could really vote about things it was clear that Faye and Melissa were drunk off their asses and needed to be found asap before they did something stupid. Jake was still pissed that Nick had actually stopped for Taco Bell but he knew that his little brother loved crazy ass Melissa. It was written all over him as he used the locator spell to find them.
“Fuck me.” He mumbled when they arrived at the scene. This was more than bad. Which meant that Jake and Nick had a bigger mess to clean up than they originally thought. His icy gaze was on Faye. She knew he was pissed but he turned his attention to the cop mumbling the incantation he needed just loud enough. The windows of the cop car parked nearby shattered and the sirens started going off loudly in order to cause a distraction and Jake reached out to grab Faye’s arm to tug her away, “Lets get them the fuck outta here.” He told Nick as the cops headed for the car and the boys pulled their drunken girls away from the scene. He eyed Faye when she tried to jerk away from him and rolled his eyes. “Don’t fucking start. What the hell is wrong with you two?”
“Freak? Don’t you mean hot freak since you keep looking at my tits you fucking asshole!” Faye couldn’t help but yell and she wasn’t even sure if her words came out the way they should have. She was drunk as hell and the world was spinning and right now, she was hot and fired up and she literally wanted this cop to eat pavement. She didn’t even know where Melissa went and before she could even comment on that, the glass was shattering, alarms were going off and she was being pulled back and now she was eye to eye with Jake.
Ugh. Of course. Jake. Jake was here to ruin everything. “Let me go!” She yelled and tried to jerk away but he was stronger than she was physically and she was sloppy right now while he was stone cold sober. Her body slammed against his and the two boys pulled their drunk girlfriends away so they could get away from all the fucking chaos that Faye and Melissa had no doubt caused.
“You’re hurting me, you asshole.” He really wasn’t but Faye was just being a bitch as they turned the corner. She felt him let go of her and she nearly fell. Luckily, she was able to hold onto something as she glared at him. Because to her, the only one that mattered right now was Jake and the way he was looking at her sent a chill up her spine.
“Uh oh, Jake’s mad Melissa. I guess he’s gonna spank us,” she teased her boyfriend, making light of a serious situation as she sauntered over drunkenly to wrap her arms around his neck.
“Yeah, but Faye said people were cooomiiing,” Melissa informed Nick as if this made the most sense in the world. Because, well, it did...didn’t it? They’d had to run. Faye’d said so.
Then the cop car basically exploded and she was totally entranced by it, staring at the chaos even as Nick pulled her away from what was probably definitely going to be an arrest.
Faye was busy trying to fight Jake off but Melissa on the other hand was trying to do the opposite. She had turned around within the span of Nick’s arm and was walking backward (clumsily) as he propelled them forward as far away from the cops as possible. One hand rested on his shoulder, the other on the opposite side of his face as she tried to kiss his neck as they walked. His body was so warm and he smelled so good and she wanted him even more than Taco Bell right now.
She giggled as Faye said something about Jake spanking them then made a face.
“Eww, speak for yourself, Faaaye.” Melissa slurred, giving Nick a devious look. “I think Nick’s got that handled.” She added, turning around and shaking her ass at him with her skirt twisted halfway around her waist in the wrong direction, tripping as she did.
This was really not how Nick wanted to spend his evening. He shot his brother a glare when the windows of the cop car exploded. That was not what he had been telling Jake to do, but even he had to admit that it was an effective distraction.
“Shit,” he pulled at Melissa until she started walking. God, she was like a freaking moth to a flame when it came to watching Jake’s handy work. The problem was when she did finally start walking? It was like walking with a sex-crazed octopus. She was clinging to him and being really fucking distracting.
“Jesus, Melissa. Can you focus?” He wasn’t exactly shoving her off, but he wasn’t amused at the moment.
It was safe to say Nick was far from amused at the whole situation.
Faye’s joking around and then Melissa nearly falling flat on her face had him groaning. He caught his girlfriend before she could eat pavement and he glared at his brother. Nick was half tempted to summon a freak rainstorm to sober the two girls up.
He did, however, use magic to fix Melissa’s skirt as he clenched his jaw. This was a hot mess and the type of nonsense he disliked dealing with. A headache was forming behind his eyes and he no longer had any Taco Bell to eat. Fucking great.
“We just saved you both from getting arrested. I don’t care how drunk you are right now, you both need to calm the fuck down so we can get back to the apartment in one piece. Then you can vote for Okra all you want.”
Jake didn’t care if Nick didn’t mean that kind of distraction. What was he supposed to do, talk his way out of them getting arrested? Did he not know his brother? Jake’s temper was horrible and he likely would have decked the cop himself and then Nick would have been in charge of getting them all out of jail. Jake did what he did best. And it worked.
But he wasn’t in the mood for this shit. The look on his face said it all as he stared down at Faye while they walked and she clasped her arms around his neck. No. This bitch was fucking crazy. She was drunk and acting ridiculous and Jake didn’t have the energy to keep calm.
Then there was Melissa who was about to try and fuck Nick right there on the street. What the hell was wrong with these two? And since when did Jake become a fucking babysitter?
He reached up and grabbed Faye’s arms jerking her off of him so he could spin her around and force her to walk. He rolled his eyes and stood quiet until Faye started mocking the situation more. “Are you two fucking five?” He snapped at her before looking to Melissa and rolling his eyes again.
Seriously he needed to get high right now.
“Good luck with that.” He told his brother. “Glad that ain’t my problem anymore.” He half mumbled reaching out to grab Faye before she could trip. “Fuck, Faye.”
Faye whined when Jake moved her arms away and turned her around, forcing her to walk, which only made it super fucking awkward and she nearly tripped, with of course, Jake catching her before she ate asphalt. "Jesus, Jake!" She yelled and whipped around, her dark hair in her face before she reached up and pushed it out of the way. She literally pouted at him, giving him a look. She could hear Melissa laughing and Nick mumbling and Jake was staring her down like he was about to go ballistic on her.
Okay, so the whole stare game wasn't working because she broke out into a laugh as she walked backwards very fucking carefully. But for very fucking carefully, she wasn't careful and Jake had to reach out and grab her at times.
"Don't be mad at me. You started it," she told him, giving him the most innocent fucking face ever, but he would always see right through it because Faye was all but innocent, at least where Jake was concerned.
But her attention span was shit and instead, she turned around, her arm wrapping around Jake's as she helped her with the whole walking straight thing. She wasn't as drunk as Melissa but she was still heavily intoxicated.
"Um, where the fuck is Taco Bell?"
Melissa just shrugged when Nick asked her if she could focus. Sure. Probably. Maybe.
...What was the question?
The boys were in Mean Daddy mode so she fell quiet for a bit, just kind of looking up at the stars because honestly, they were so pretty. It was enough of a distraction to get her more or less compliant and somewhat walking straight. How exactly had she gone from trying to pace herself to being more trashed than even Faye was? Oh yeah, she was built like a hummingbird. Oops.
“My hero,” She purred, giving Nick a sloppy kiss on the cheek when he pointed out that they had saved them from getting arrested. Sure, Jake had saved her too but that was Faye’s job and they’d be having crazy loud make up sex in no time so Melissa was confident her best friend had it covered.
“I think there’s one like, over there.” Melissa added, motioning her arm in a very general direction. “Niiick, I need Taco Bell or I’m gonna puke.” She informed him suddenly, feeling a little queasy. Or was she going to puke if she got Taco Bell? It was 50/50 but she still wanted cheesy gordita crunch, damn it.
If only he had thought to get some on the way there!
This was Hell.
Nick was positive he was in literal Hell at this point.
The girls were whining about Taco Bell, Jake was pissed, and only half of the group was drunk.
“I am pretty sure you are going to puke no matter what because your blood is more alcohol than actual blood at the moment.” If they took Faye and Melissa to Taco Bell there was a strong chance something else would happen that would result in cops. He wasn’t going to take that chance, not tonight. He glanced towards Jake before wrapping an arm around Melissa’s waist to keep her steady.
“Tell you what,” he said carefully as he tried to keep his temper under control. “How about we get you two back to the apartment so you can drink some water and then I’ll go out and get Taco Bell?” Yeah, no way in Hell was he wasting anymore money on Taco Bell tonight. He was still pissed his cheesy gordita crunch was now roadkill all because Faye and Melissa had to start shit while drunk.
He was going to get the girls situated in the apartment and then he was going to down a few potions.
“And don’t puke on me,” he warned his very intoxicated girlfriend.
What the fuck was up with everyone wanting Taco Bell? That shit was gross even when you were drunk off your ass. Nick had a hell of a lot more patience than Jake did because everytime Faye tripped he was ready to grab his girl and toss her over his shoulder. Drag that crazy ass back to the apartment caveman style.
He stood silent as he wrapped his arm around Faye and pulled her towards the complex. He had too much on his mind and he was already eying his brother. He was going to fucking share those potions. If Jake didn’t find them and down them all first.
“Don’t fucking puke at all.” Jake snapped as he eyed Melissa. God, that was the last fucking thing they needed right now. “You either.” He glanced down at Faye as his fingertips idly teased against her side. Yes, Jake was pissed but he still loved her dumbass.
They finally turned the corner and the complex came into view, they still had a block to walk and Jake wasn’t sure if Melissa would even make it all the way there without barfing on Nick’s shoes. As hilarious as that would have been Jake didn’t want to deal with that. “We’re almost home. You can shower and then eat.” Whatever the fuck was in the fridge.
"Now I kind of want Denny's," Faye said. Something about a grand slam sounded freaking good right now about, but she was just jerked a long toward the complex. She could have pouted about that, but her eyes brightened, lighting up because she knew what was coming next. Jake was all bad moody but she knew that soon he wouldn't be. It wasn't as if he could resist her, drunk or not.
"Ew, please don't." The last thing she wanted was for Melissa to puke everywhere but she knew her bestie would be feeling it tomorrow and Faye would be there to talk shit and hold her hair while she did. Faye, of course, felt that she would be fine. Because nothing could ever get to the brunette witch. Except everything did and that was the problem. Faye swore that she didn't care, but she did - way too much. She was a natural born hater, especially if shit wasn't going her way.
The door to the complex opened and she turned around, trying to be sexy for Jake as she walked in but she fell back, one leg tripping over the other and pulled Melissa down with her. Instead of getting pissed, she just laughed. And okay, maybe she was a lot drunker than she was giving herself credit for. The walk she thought was sobering her up but nope.
Melissa pouted as everyone kept telling her not to throw up.
First of all, she wasn’t going to. And second of all? Even if she was going to, it wasn’t like she could help it so telling her not to was going to do fuck all to stop it. God, they were so mean.
She started to point this out but was interrupted as Faye fell and pulled her ass down to the floor with her. Faye was laughing and after a second, so was she because it was pretty funny but then she realized all of that jostling had gotten to her and…
“Oh no,” Melissa said, her face turning white as a sheet as she scrambled over for some massively large, ornate planter of some fancy mini palm tree or something. Grabbing the round rim of it with both hands, she began to puke. And puke. And puke. Until her stomach was empty and her body was trembling, something that always seemed to happen when she got violently sick.
Pulling back, her lower lip began to quiver and suddenly she burst into tears.
“I just wanna go home.” She sobbed. Home as in Nick’s room. Not her apartment, and not that other home where he was dead. But home-home.
It wasn't funny when both girls went crashing to the ground. Nick stood there staring for a moment before he ran a hand down his face. This evening was really testing his cool.
Faye and Melissa were laughing like idiots and he wanted to bash his head against a wall.
Why was nothing easy?
Then it happened, Melissa fucking puked. It was like this evening just couldn't get any worse and then something had to happen to prove that, yes, yes it could. He let out a sigh as he moved over to his sick girlfriend who was finally just a crying mess. It was kind of tempting to just leave the girls there, but Nick couldn't bring himself to do it. Damn.
“That's where I've been trying to take you, idiot,” he said softly as he knelt down. His girlfriend was a mess. He helped her put an arm around his neck as he grabbed her back with an arm. His other arm went under her knees before he stood up. God, why had it come to this?
“I don't care what the fuck you decide to do with Faye, but I need you to hit the elevator button for me. I need to get this one cleaned up.” He fully planned on just tossing Melissa into the shower fully clothed before letting her get anywhere near his bed.
Jake didn’t move when the girls went falling on their asses. His face did finally crack into a smirk when Melissa threw up and then went into a fit of tears. God she was a fucking mess. And then he saw that fucking look on Faye’s face. “Don’t you fucking dare.” He warned her knowing full well she was about to cry with her dumbass friend.
He reached down and pulled Faye up by her hands to her feet and sighed as he wrapped an arm around her and hit the elevator button. “Come on, boozy.” He mumbled to Faye as the elevator doors opened and they all stepped inside. This night was already fucked up and it was far from over.
They made it to their floor and Jake let them inside the apartment where he watched as Nick headed straight for the bathroom with Melissa. He heard the water and then a few curse words as he was sure Nick tossed her ass into the cold water to sober her up and get her cleaned up.
His focus was on Faye now as he led his girl to their room and helped her out of her jacket. He tossed her pajamas onto the bed and gave her a look. “Change and stay here.” He commanded as he watched her for a moment. “I’ll get you food and some water.” How the fuck had this night ended up this way? He watched as Faye challenged him and then finally caved and started to change. He had so much to talk to her about but that could all wait until tomorrow. When everyone was sober and wasn't going to vote for fucking Oprah and Tesco Ball or whatever the fuck Melissa was going on about.
