dessert never tasted so sweet
You know that saying teenage girls made stupid decisions around cute boys? Yeah, that was probably 100% true in Lizzie’s case. That had became abundantly clear when she had woken up the night before and realized that she was now a vampire. There were so many people out there making shitty choices because their souls had been snatched. Words were said they couldn’t take back. Bodies littered random bars. Everyone was hurting the people they cared about on purpose. But Lizzie? No, she had to take things to a drastic level. She had to top it all.

Nothing like that last drop of icing on the cake. God, she was going to be so screwed if she ever got her soul back. She knew her sister was trying her damndest to get innocent little Lizzie back to herself but Lizzie liked this version of herself so much better. Harry had been there when she woke up the night before and took her out to feed and everything changed after that. She had that constant euphoric feeling now that she could tap into her magic at any time now. Was this how Kai felt all the time? It was like a constant jolt of a drug you couldn’t get enough of. There was also something else she couldn’t get enough of now too.

She had a wicked little grin playing on her lips as she texted Bellamy to meet her in the lobby. He was cute and she was bored so why not play with her food? They met up in the lobby and she quickly had them out of there before anyone she knew noticed she was around the complex at all. Too many people still wanted her locked away till she was fixed and Lizzie wasn’t about to let that happen. She dragged him along the streets of downtown LA pointing out a few spots he would have to try out later but there was one specific little spot she was aiming for as they headed towards the bay area.

“Okay, Spaceboy, you have to try this.” Lizzie set the massive funnel cake down onto the picnic table that was just off the edge of where the beach started. It was covered with both chocolate and vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, powdered sugar and cherry on top. She eyed him with a smirk. “What? It’s like a gift from the gods, you know, if they existed.” She grabbed a spoon and took a bite of the ice cream as she looked him over. “But you’re right, you might have to hit the gym after this.” Or maybe she would turn him and he could stay that hot. Decisions, decisions.

Bellamy was doing what he could to see and do everything in the short amount of time he was here. He made the excuse that he needed to check things out, or get to know his surroundings, which in a way was the truth. Bellamy didn’t want to be left in the dark, he wanted to know where everything was and where to get his friends to safety if need be. Just because the scenery was different didn’t mean his intentions changed. Bellamy wasn’t perfect, but he tried to do what was right. Sometimes his view was a little jaded though.

After nights out with the guys and with his sister, Bellamy was now out with Lizzie who seemed pretty cool. She was pretty and she offered to take him around, which she had and now they were sitting down, trying a funnel cake. Or he was. He was pretty sure she had it before.

“This looks delicious,” he said then, looking down at the funnel cake. He realized that he had a sweet tooth and it was going to be a problem. Instant gratification. That’s all Bellamy cared about right now. Everything was available, everything was impulsive and he didn’t know if he could slow down anytime soon, although he knew he should have. Just because it felt like they were free, they weren’t.

Picking up his spoon, he took a bite too and he instantly moaned, an indication that he liked it. “Okay, this is good,” he laughed a little and brought his spoon in for another scoop.

“So do you do this often? Take guys out for ice cream and funnel cakes?” He asked. He didn’t mind either way, he was just curious.

It was easy to get lost in everything that Los Angeles had to offer. She had watched it happen time and time again when the dead showed up here and indulged in everything they had missed. She watched Bellamy’s friends on the network makes fools out of themselves time and time again. Getting drunk and professing their love for one another or starting drama for the fun of it. Lizzie didn’t care. That was their thing, but that Murphy kid? God, she couldn’t stand him.

That all really stemmed from Kai though. Murphy seemed to think Kai was cool and Lizzie rolled her eyes. Yeah, cool. Until he ripped your heart out and fed it to your girl. Or even vice versa. You never knew what the psycho would do but if that was who you hung out with then you were just as bad, yeah? So what did that make Harry? She still remembered coming out of the apartment complex that day and seeing Harry and Kai hanging all over each other like some frat boys about to makeout. But Harry had saved her and Josie. Saved them. Nearly died. That earned her trust. But Murphy? He was just a dick when she tried to talk some sense into him so it was whatever.

She saw how he had acted when he lost his soul too. Eyeroll.

“Right? Can never go wrong with ice cream and never ending sugar.” She took another bite and glanced over at him. Was he calling her a ho? She smirked and shook her head. “Nah. You’re just lucky.” She pulled off a piece of the funnel cake and sucked the powdered sugar off her thumb as she shrugged. “You’re newish and I wanted something sweet.” She popped the piece into her mouth and smiled over at him.

“You were around before but like super quiet unless the boys were doing something dumb or something?” She shrugged. “And I was usually getting grounded for something stupid or I had my twin attached at the hip. Kind of boring. On all three accounts.” She brushed her hands off to the side and tilted her head. “So have your friends filled you in about this place? I mean your return timing kind of sucks with all the chaos, right? No better way to jump into things like this. Just wait, it gets better. You still have your vampires, werewolves, and witches to run into.”

Just lucky. Right. Bellamy just smiled a little and shook his head. He was taking it for what it was. This was his first time out with someone who wasn’t from his world and so far, it was pretty cool. He couldn’t get over the fact that he was here. He’d worry about the bad shit later, at least for now, it was pushed from his mind.

“It’s crazy that I was here before and I don’t remember,” he said then, looking at her. He didn’t understand how that worked but he wasn’t dwelling on it. The fact that she paid attention to what he was doing or not doing was pretty wild. “Yeah, the boys are usually doing dumb shit.” He chuckled at that until she came to the part where she was usually grounded.

“Grounded? Like by your parents?” Bellamy raised an eyebrow at her and took another bite of ice cream. He wondered then if his mother would show up here. It was possible. People who were gone seemed to show up. Finn. Jasper. Even Lexa. It was crazy. “And your twin is here? Seems you got it lucky.” He would have given anything to see his mother. The thought alone, that little spark of hope. He hoped it wasn’t useless.

“They filled me in enough. I mean, I think i was filled with so much information since the moment I showed up. It’s still unreal. Angels? I don’t know.” But that was something else altogether.

“I have to say that coming from where I did? Where we practically had nothing - this is paradise. I told you that we just went to space, but we were avoiding getting hit with the death wave. Praimfaya, it’s -” He shrugged. “Radiation and fire.”

“I’ve seen a few people come and go.” Some Lizzie didn’t know. Some she did. It was always amusing to see their reactions. The ‘omg, what the fuck’ thing got old after awhile but each one was different and went in other directions. The worst one was when Josie had disappeared. Lizzie remembered what that felt like and it made her roll her eyes. Pathetic. She hadn’t known what to do without her other half and now? She wanted nothing to do with her. Nothing to do with any of them. “So, you’re like the babysitter? Or are you just as bad as they are?”

Lizzie nodded at his question. “So, from where my parents were pulled from? Me and Josie are only, like, five years olds.” All cute and innocent and not giving them a world of havoc. “Now we’re almost …” She paused at the thought of her birthday being in two months and knowing it wouldn’t matter. She wouldn’t age. “They’re just not exactly sure how to handle the fact that they’ve missed so many years and don’t really know us anymore. When we first got here we were permanently grounded because our psycho uncle is here.” She watched him for a moment, “But now it’s just the only way they know how to handle things.”

“It’s not as easy as you think.” She took another bite of the ice cream and shrugged. “Everything is different here than it is where I’m from. People are here that should be dead so, everything kind of shifted. I think they forget that it’s not easy for us just like it’s not easy for them.” But Lizzie didn’t care about that anymore. Ric could pine after Caroline all he wanted. Stefan and Caroline could have their happily ever after and Josie could fall in line like the good girl that she was. Lizzie was tired of pretending like everything was fine.

“We don’t see them but we know they’re lurking just waiting to throw another curveball. Because hey, this isn’t difficult enough right? Gotta have the trials and challenges and turn our worlds upside down for the fun of it.” Lizzie glanced over at him and smiled before she arched a brow at him. “Seriously?” she slowly shook her head, “Let’s not give the angels any ideas. Before I got here there was a major earthquake, but I doubt we could handle radiation and fire here.” Had Lizzie had her humanity she would have been impressed by the fact that he had escaped something like that but Lizzie’s eyes had drifted to Bellamy’s handsome face to his neck and the pulsing vein gently throbbing under his skin. The hunger she felt made her bite her bottom lip. “We should go check out the beach after this.”

“Their babysitter?” He shrugged and just smiled - he wasn’t. Not anymore. And he wasn’t planning on playing that role at all in LA because Bellamy wanted to try and live a life for himself too. He couldn’t do that if he was constantly worrying about what they were doing. Not that he wouldn’t because in the end, he had a sense of responsibility, just like Clarke did. Even if the scenery changed and their friends had their own lives, they would still be there. Just not constantly, he guessed.

“Not anymore. And maybe I haven’t been for awhile, but yeah, I’ll look out for them,” he said, looking at her, eying her briefly before looking down at the ice cream. He couldn’t believe her parents were here. She seemed annoyed by it all but Bellamy would have given anything to see his mother and he was sure that O felt the same way. It just wasn’t his place to say that, and it wasn’t as if he wanted to talk about his mother. But to know that it was a possibility, well - there was hope. That was all he could do at this point.

“It sounds like it’s about to be a ride. Me and my friends have gotten through a lot and this - I have no doubt we’ll be able to do just that. There’s a few of them that are back from … being dead and so far, they’re here and they’re surviving. That’s all I want, that’s all we want. Survival.”

It was what drove them back on the ground, survival. Of themselves and their people. No matter what choices they made, no matter how terrible they were - it was for them. Always.

“The beach, huh?” He smiled then. Enough of the sad talk, enough of the talk of parents or how much this place sucked. He wanted to see why it didn’t suck. “Let’s go.” He laughed a little and got up. They were finished anyway and right now, he just wanted to take it all in. Lizzie was pretty cool and he was grateful that she was showing him around. Going to the beach could prove to be interesting but he wasn’t thinking far ahead. He wasn’t thinking about anything but just living it up at the moment. He felt he deserved it. They all did. And the way she was biting her lower lip, well - yeah - he wanted to see this beach.

That was definitely what this place was all about it seemed. Second chances. The opportunity to live the life you couldn’t in your world. Lizzie used to appreciate that about this place. She loved the fact that Stefan and Enzo were alive here. That her mother could be happy with the legit love of her life. But now Lizzie saw things for what they really were. Their happiness here came with a price. Everything here came with a price.

Things were never easy and Lizzie was tired of pretending like they were. Could her family really blame her for how she acted? She wasn’t five anymore and they couldn’t easily hide everything away from the girls anymore.

Lizzie saw more than she let on. She was just quiet because she didn’t want to ruin anything for anyone. That wasn’t who she was. But now with some demon running around with her soul she couldn’t be bothered to hide how she had felt.

Bellamy seemed like that guy though. The one who looked out for his people. So did the blonde. Those were great traits to have in a tight group. But how long would that last before they were sacrificing too much? “I don’t think that ever stops. It’s always about survival. Even here.”

Lizzie flashed him a grin as she got up and tossed the remainder of their threat into the nearby trash can. There was an extra little pep in her step as she grabbed onto the front of Bellamy’s shirt and tugged him towards the beach as she walked backwards for a moment taking him in. Yep, he would do just fine. “Try to keep up.” Her grin turned into more of a smirk as she finally turned as they headed down into the sand.

This place had become one of her favorite spots since coming here. The water used to calm her as she sat there staring out at it and now everything was heightened. The sounds. The smells. The feeling of the sand against her skin. She was just a few steps ahead of Bellamy as she headed for the edge of the water to walk along it. Turning to walk backwards again so she could watch him for a moment, Lizzie grinned that cute little grin of hers.

She was right about that. No matter where he was, it was always about survival. He knew it would take him a few to get his place here, to find out where he wanted to be but right now, he didn’t mind trying new things. Which he had been. With food and well, with this. He felt like he finally had a life and it might have been a premature thought, but right now, he was just learning as he was going until he got it all down and figured it all out.

He followed her down to the beach, his feet sinking with each step and he just laughed. She was cute, and she was fun and this was exactly what he needed right now. Another way to destress and get his foot in the door in LA.

“You think I can’t keep up?” He asked then. Oh, she had no idea. She turned around, giving him that smile and Bellamy couldn’t help but grin to himself. Should I, shouldn’t I? Those were the questions going through his mind and now - anything was possible. So he definitely should.

He took off after her not knowing what she was truly was. Not knowing that she could pummel him, out run him, out strength him. To him, she looked like a cute little blond who wanted a night of fun, not a vicious vampire who couldn’t control herself. His arms reached out for her, pulling her back and lifting her up as he spun her around.

Finally, he let her down and he looked around, his eyes to the sky knowing very well, he could have been there right now and not here, having what he thought was the time of his life. But this was only the beginning.

When he asked Lizzie gave him that little come and get me smile before he was on her, reaching for her to lift her up and spin her. There was a moment where Lizzie let out a giggle-like laugh and she shook her head. Her hands on his arms once she was back on her feet.

Bellamy Blake had no idea who Lizzie Saltzman was. More like who she was. It was what drew her in more and when his eyes were above them on the stars Lizzie let her own eyes linger over him. God, she just knew he tasted so sweet. The urge was almost too much to resist and without her even realizing it her pretty face started to change.

The blood flooded her blue eyes and the dark veins danced under her eyes as she leaned in closer to him. If anything it looked like Lizzie was about to make a move on him while he took in the beautiful sight above them. But Lizzie wanted more than that.

Her lips gently brushed against the smooth skin of his neck until she found the spot she was looking for. She closed her eyes and breathed him in until a giddy little smirk formed on her lips. She could have compelled him. She could have warned him to run from her. But Lizzie’s humanity was gone and Lizzie just wanted what she wanted.

Her fangs gently grazed against the pulse under his neck, and before he could pull away she quickly sank them in, drinking slow and deep as she she brought her hand up to the other side of his neck to keep him close. Even without her humanity Lizzie wasn’t exactly rough. If anything this could have easily seemed seductive in a way. The taste of his blood had her pulling him tightly against her and her fingertips disappeared into his curls. Yes, Bellamy Blake was being introduced into a whole new world.

Bellamy noticed her coming for him and he just grinned a little. He closed his eyes when she came close. How could he not? It wasn’t like she was horrible, he was attracted and this place was new and he was trying new things. Girls - yeah. He sighed softly as the grin faded and he moved his arm so it was around her, his hand coming up to touch her hair and then he felt something … sharp.

His eyes shot open and before he knew it, he felt a piecing. Like he was being poked. But it was as if she had sank her teeth into his skin.

“Lizzie -” He started, his voice commanding but she had a hold on him and fucking hell - she was strong. He didn’t know what the hell she was doing but he knew that it hurt … but it felt good too? It didn’t make any sense. “Lizzie,” he began again, “Get off of me!” He finally shoved her back and he stumbled. His skin was torn, it ripped, he could feel it and he brought his hand to his neck, seeing the blood there.

But it wasn’t just that. He saw her face. Her eyes were red, the viens, the teeth and that look. He began to back away but he reached down to his waistband, grabbing the knife that was there.

“I don’t know what the hell you are, but you need to stay the hell away from me, so help me,” he said. He didn’t want to kill her.

But he would.

God, it was so easy to get lost in the bloodlust. The taste was something she couldn’t get enough of. Plus? Holding the life of someone literally in the palm of your hand while you drank? There was something incredibly powerful and intoxicating about that. Was this how Caroline felt? No, because she was a good girl who drank from a blood bag. Just like the rest of them. Lizzie didn’t know how they did it.

Lizzie rolled eyes at his reaction and didn’t even try to hide her face from him now. Wasn’t like she could go back. She had already bitten him, why hide now? She did tilt her head and smile as her face when back to normal. He was panicking. She could hear the racing of his heart and it called to her like a siren called in a ship.

“You don’t know what I am?” She asked arching a brow at him. “Come on, Bellamy. You’re smart, you have a little idea.” She took a step towards him but her eyes were back to his neck. She didn’t feel that extreme need to feed so she didn’t go in for the attack again, instead she frowned. Almost as if she was sorry. “You don’t have to be scared of me.”

Maybe she should have compelled him? But where was the fun in that. She liked that rush she got when she fed from the unexpected. She finally took a step towards him and held up her hands as if she was showing she wouldn’t hurt him. “If you’re gonna run home at least let me heal you first.”

She was in front of him then and she reached up to cup his face quickly, her eyes locked on his. “You don’t want to leave. I’m not going hurt you.” She forced her will over as she compelled him. There was nothing else taken away from him, she just didn’t want him to run away. She dropped her hands and took a step back as she eyed him. Part of her didn’t even know if it would work. Wasn’t like she was a pro at it and he was the first she had tried it on. “You know. If I didn’t know any better I think you liked it.”

Was this what O was talking about? The supernatural here. The vampires, werewolves, things that weren’t part of their lives back home, on the ground, or on the Ark. Things were so different here and Bellamy just looked at her, watched how her face changed and it was back to what he liked, her actual face. Not the face of a monster.

“Vampire.” It was all he said and that seemed to be it. She literally bit into him and no - he didn’t like that. The feeling was painful but he did feel a rush through his body that could have felt good, that could have felt like he wanted more.

He kept his eyes on her as she came toward him. He didn’t feel threatened then and he lowered the knife. And as much as he did want to leave, he just didn’t want to anymore.

“The part where you bit into my skin and drank my blood? No, I’m not really a fan,” he told her and sighed, putting the knife away. It was probably a mistake, but he could get it just as easily if he needed it. And since he wasn’t being forced to say the truth, he didn’t admit that part of it did feel good. He felt almost ashamed, but he was sure it was something he would get over.

“Look, I know that things are different here. I get it. But you went a little too far.” He told her. And even with him being upset, he was curious. He did want to know everything. He had to. He needed to be prepared.

Lizzie gave a small nod of confirmation when he said vampire and slowly crossed her arms over her chest. She watched as the wheels started spinning inside of his head. That look on his face a mixture of worry and excitement and she couldn’t help but let her own mind wander.

It was when he kept talking that Lizzie tried to understand where he was coming from. The problem was that she didn’t care if she had overstepped. She was a vampire and she was hungry and Bellamy was hot and tasty. Dessert had never tasted so sweet and Lizzie would have been lying if she said she wasn’t ready for more.

“How should I have done it? Should I have asked nicely?” She almost laughed but instead she bit down on her lower lip and finally sighed. “Maybe you’re right. Maybe I went a little too far.” Though, she really didn’t believe that she did. “Truth is, this is all new to me too.” Lizzie could play the innocent role better than anyone she knew. She had spent countless years perfecting her pout against her parents and she knew all the cards to play to make herself seem like she was about to break.

“I didn’t mean to hurt you. ” She frowned and turned to face the water. “It’s only been a day since I was turned.” she turned her gaze on him. “Do you want me to fix it?” She reached out to cup his cheek and turn his face a bit to eye the wound on his neck. “One little taste of my blood and it goes away like it never happened.”

Something told Bellamy that she didn’t mean anything of what she said. It wasn’t as if he trusted her that much anyway. They had just met. It took a lot more than a cute smile and nice body to make him fall to his knees, at least to the point where he actually trusted someone. Maybe she shouldn’t have done it at all. That was what he wanted to say. The blood had dried by now but his neck was still in pain because his skin was torn. It was something that he would have to nurse later. He didn’t want to go home because of the compulsion so instead, he wanted to stay here.

“Do you mean that? That you didn’t mean to hurt me?” He saw her puppy eyes and he returned with the same expression. He was upset at her but he could see that she was at least trying.

“Wait, you want me to taste your blood. I don’t think so.” No, he wasn’t going to do that. He wasn’t going to end up like her. “I just need to get cleaned up, that’s all.” Which was the truth. He didn’t want to go around with a bloody neck but he didn’t want to leave her either. He was so conflicted but he wasn’t compelled to not leave her. Just that he didn’t want to go home. So he actually wanted to be around her. But it was to learn more about her. To find out what happened and why she was this way.

She was turned yesterday. Which meant it was a thing here in LA. Was this her trying to turn him? He wasn’t sure. It wasn’t going to happen. He was going to have to talk to O again and find out what the hell he could do against vampires. He was only told they were here, not how to to protect himself.

“Let’s get me cleaned up and we can go from there.” He said, eyeing her for a second before he turned, nodding for her to go with him.

Lizzie thought about his question and she laughed softly and gave the tiniest shrug. Lizzie could have said anything she wanted and he likely wouldn’t have believed her anyway. Which just led Lizzie to give him a what do you think look. No, Lizzie didn’t care if Bellamy trusted her or not. What she didn’t want was anyone to know what she was. So, where did that leave things with her and Bellamy. Did she reach out and snap his neck to end that problem? Did she compel it all away? Where was the fun in that?

“Why? Not like you simply drinking my blood would turn you. It’s not that simple.” She rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Fine, your choice.” She told him as she eyed him. She eyed the water for a moment and sighed. Leave it to Lizzie to pick the complicated ones to have her fun with. Something was already telling her that Bellamy was going to be a complication.

She nodded at him, “Lead the way, spaceboy.” She told them as they started heading back down the beach to where they had come from. Lizzie would let him get cleaned up and then she knew there was going to be all kinds of questions. It still intrigued her that he still wanted to be around her right now. He could have left. Could have gone anywhere that was away from her and he hadn’t. Which only made her curious about where this night would go.
