Who: Clarke and Bellamy
Where: House of Intuition
When: Around 8:30-9:00 tonight
What: Clarke and Bellamy get some hex bag supplies
Warnings: I don't think so

When Clarke pulled up the address for Panpipes Magickal Marketplace on her laptop, she was disheartened to read that it was closed both today and tomorrow. She'd stopped by last night after work, not bothering to check the hours on the door. The worker she'd spoken with had been very helpful, especially since she was going in blind. She'd gone home with a bag full of herbs that the guy told her would be good for protection — none of which ended up being on Ivy's list of needed ingredients for the hex bags Clarke wanted.

She was a little surprised she'd gotten not one but two bites on her request for a witch to help her with the bags. She'd been a little hesitant to reach out, not sure what she'd end up with, but she couldn't really be upset that two magic users were willing to help her. Sometimes, the sense of community around here was a little lacking. Which was understandable because most people stuck to groups with people they'd know before. Clarke was guilty of that too. She'd felt responsible for the others since the dropship hit the ground, and now that so many of them were trapped here together, that sense of responsibility was still intact. She didn't like the idea of demons coming anywhere near her people; they'd already gotten Murphy.

Bellamy disappearing and reappearing like he had was kind of a shock for her. He'd been kind of up and down since his second appearance in LA – they hadn't really had much to do with each other, honestly – but she hadn't even realized he was gone this time around. He and Jasper had vacated the apartment they shared with Murphy when he'd lost his soul and threatened them — Jasper with Clarke, Lexa, Raven, and Laura; Bellamy with Octavia, Lincoln, and Harper. As far as Clarke had known, he was still there. But then he'd posted up on the net, the typical post of a first-timer who was confused, and Clarke had quickly put together what had happened.

As soon as he'd started wrapping his mind around what was going on, he'd asked what the situation was. Clarke told him, and he was diving into it headfirst. He wanted to see Octavia first, which Clarke agreed was a must, but when he'd finished up there, he was knocking on her door. By that time, she'd found an occult shop that was still open, House of Intuition, that seemed like it would work. She really didn't care where they went for supplies. She wanted to get this done, now, before anyone else got their soul taken from them. She didn't want any of her people suffering like that again.

They took a Lyft to the shop and Clarke tried her best to explain where she'd learned about hex bags and what they were supposed to do. She really only had a vague idea – that it was supposed to keep you hidden from things – so she worried things were getting a little lost in translation, but she was trying. So much happened around here that they couldn't fight, but this Clarke could do something about. That was all that mattered to her right now.

"Okay," she said when they'd stepped into the store. "We need lavender, hemp, and something called... goofer dust." She frowned, her eyebrows furrowing together. "That sounds made up. But I guess it's real, and we need it."

Seeing Octavia and talking about things that happened when they were on the ground, it was a wound that just kept opening and over and over. Bellamy knew that Lincoln was here, he had yet to see him, but he planned on it. Bellamy knew that what he did, what he had a part in - it devastated so many and since then, he'd been trying to just move past it. Trying to find something that made this all worth it.

The scenery might have changed, but the problems didn't. They still carried over and they always would. There was so much that he and O had to make up for. So much he had to make up for and hopefully they'd get that chance. Unless the cute blond was right and this place was about to burn to the ground

It was nice to sit and talk with his sister though. A beer in hand and he just caught up with her about this place. Not everything was good to know, but he needed to know. The in depth talk about the challenges and what went on with them. The little 'magic spells' that happened making people change genders and the image of Murphy as a chick wasn't going to get out of his head anytime soon. Shit.

Or even Clarke as a man. But he wouldn't bring that up - ever.

After he and O said their goodbyes, Bellamy headed toward Clarke's place. It still blew his mind that this was how it was. They were worried about how they were going to have oxygen and food and now, it was like that didn't matter.

After he met up with Clarke, they headed to a store and Bellamy raised his eyebrow the moment they walked in. Because what the hell did they just walk into? His eyes scanned the walls, looking at the merchandise and even Bell got a shiver rolling down his spine. If this was going to protect their friends, then he would do it. Luckily, Clarke seemed to know what she was doing because right now, Bellamy was eyeing her a little.

"Lavender, hemp and goofer dust." He smiled, but he didn't elaborate on that thought before he started to move through the store.

"You think it'll work?" He asked. "What you're doing. Hex bags?" He glanced over at her. She looked good. Healthy. Her hair looked soft and her skin looked smooth. He looked away and sighed, before he continued to look for what they needed.

"I think it's all I really have to go on," Clarke admitted. "So I have to try."

She could feel him looking at her. She knew she looked different. She'd been here for a long time now – she'd actually just passed five months around the new year – and it showed. She wasn't grungy like she had been near constantly at home. She couldn't even go a day without a shower anymore because, much like home, she often came back after a long day covered in blood. She took care of herself here. She had the time now, the freedom.

And she was happy. Really genuinely happy. That helped too.

She smiled at him, taking a breath. She was tense. She could feel it, and she wouldn't be surprised if he could tell. Sometimes, they went weeks and weeks with nothing weird happening. Then when something happened, it was horrible. Like this. Demons stealing souls? It sounded like something that couldn't be real. But it was. Murphy had already been through it. Of course she was tense.

"I know it's a risk. But I have to try." She didn't know much about Dean, the guy who had brought this up on the net, but she knew he was a hunter. That had been all over the net a few weeks ago. She just had to hope he knew what he was talking about. Ivy certainly seemed confident.

He looked good too, she noticed. He'd clearly taken the time to shower and make himself look nice. She could remember how good it had felt to take a nice, long hot shower when she'd first gotten here. Even on the ark, she hadn't really had that luxury. Water usage was monitored just like everything else they used.

"Sorry. I know you just got here. I shouldn't be dragging you all over town already."

Really, she knew he didn't care. He was the one who'd told her she wasn't doing this alone. But since he was new again, she felt a little bad. It wasn't like this was some fun introductory trip around Los Angeles.

He knew that she was tense. He wasn't sure if it was just the situation or him being here now. But then he reasoned that it wasn't him because from what he had been told, he was already here. For months. He didn't remember it. All he remembered was trying to get off the ground before the deathwave hit. He couldn't forget that image of the rolling fire that was heading toward them before they got out of there. The fact that Clarke was still down there - how did she survive it? He didn't doubt her. Clarke was definitely a survivor and she was a fighter, he was just curious. For the short time he was on the ark, he was mourning her, grieving and hoping that everything they did, surviving - it wasn't in vain.

"Like I'd be anywhere else," he said, giving her a look. No, he wouldn't be. No matter where he was, Clarke was still important, their positions were important to him and he would continue to stand by her side and help her when she needed it and even when she didn't need it. He knew he could have been out with his friends, exploring his new surroundings but he also knew that he could do that after he helped Clarke. Right now, this was important. She was trying to protect them all.

His eyes scanned the shelves as he walked slowly throughout the store.

"Lexa's here," he said, eyeing her for a second before his gaze shifted back to the shelves. "Are you two ...?" He knew how much Clarke cared about her. He realized that when Lexa died, how much it hurt Clarke. Bellamy didn't really care for Lexa but he did care about Clarke. And he cared about her happiness. He figured they were together. Why not? There was nothing holding them back.

"Found it." He grabbed a bag of lavender and held it up for Clarke before he continued looking for everything else they needed.

"It's actually a little hard to wrap my head around. The people who have ..." He looked over at her. Obviously he was going to say died. The fact they were here, living a life, it was hard to realize, at least until he saw them and so far, he'd only seen O and Clarke. He hadn't seen Jasper, or Lexa, or even Lincoln. He figured that when he went over to talk to Octavia, Lincoln was already gone in order to get them some privacy.

"Kind of makes me wonder who we're going to see next, you know?"

When Clarke saw that look, she couldn't keep from smiling. This was the Bellamy she'd needed the past few months, the Bellamy she hadn't really had. She knew, when he said he wouldn't be anywhere else, he meant it. They had been a package deal for a long time back home. Partners. In good times and bad. They'd had their struggles, their disagreements, and they'd both done horrible things. But they always seemed to come back together when they needed to.

She took her time, scanning the shelf, intent on finding the goofer dust but still listening. She glanced over just as he looked away when he brought up Lexa. She was a tough spot between the two of them. Clarke had moved past Lexa's betrayal at the Mountain, but Bellamy still didn't trust her. Lexa was getting along well with the sky people that were here, but Bellamy — that was going to be a contentious relationship Clarke was going to have to keep an eye on.

She nodded, though, in answer. They were. As soon as Lexa had arrived here, alive, from just moments before her death at Titus's hand, that was it. Clarke wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. She hadn't had a chance to really properly love Lexa back home. She had that chance here. She wasn't giving it up.

She took the bag of lavender Bellamy had scooped up out of his hand with a nod of approval. One down, two to go. She didn't imagine hemp would be hard to find. It was this dust she'd never heard of before that was going to be a little tough to track down. She supposed she should just be glad Ivy had tasked herself with finding the chicken bones and spider eggs.

"We've seen a lot of our people come through here," she said. "Dead and alive. This place doesn't discriminate, that's for sure." She was glad for it, for the most part. Lexa, Lincoln, Finn, and Jasper being alive were all pluses in her book. Anya was a little more iffy, but so far, she hadn't been any trouble. Luna was the only one that had really caused some aggravation.

"Miller, Bryan, and Monty were here. Echo, too. I'm sure O told you." They'd disappeared not long ago, and honestly, that was another thing that had Clarke a little on edge. She'd gotten accustomed to having a large group of her people here, and now they were dwindling. It was concerning to her. It made her wonder who would be next.

So maybe the hex bags were about a little more than just the current soulless debacle. Maybe a part of her hoped it would keep the angels from taking her people.

"I guess it could be anyone next. A part of me keeps hoping Mom will show up." It had been so many years since she'd last seen her mother, and she missed her. "But it seems selfish to hope for that, you know? I don't want anyone dragged here to fight a war. I want to be finished with wars." And if this was one of the battles, she couldn't wish it on anyone, from her world or any of the others represented here.

"Ah!" She smiled triumphantly, stretching up onto her toes to grab a small canvas dag with a tag labeled 'goofer dust' off a high shelf.

He kept his gaze on her as her words sank in. As much freedom as it seemed they had now, as much as being here was better on the surface, there was still a war. He remembered the text clearly. That's what they were here for and suddenly, just talking about it seemed dangerous. What if they were being listened in on? Was that possible? He wasn't sure. He figured since Clarke was speaking freely about it, maybe not. After all, he had no idea. He had just gotten here. He was going by what he was seeing so far.

"Yeah, she told me about that." He didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay. Whatever this war was - they would win it. Right?

"I was talking to Murphy," he whispered as he moved through, looking over the shelves. "I made a comment to him about getting back at the angels for what they had done to him." He looked over at Clarke. "That's not possible is it?" He was curious her take on it. He figured that if they hadn't been able to get to these so called angels yet, then they might not be able to.

He just didn't understand fighting something they couldn't see. Or not even fighting at all? Maybe that was the point.

"So it does exist?" He smiled a little and moved closer, reaching to help her get the 'goofer dust.' He looked that packet over before handing it to her.

"O told me about the challenges. The death matches," he said, glancing at her, going back on subject. "She also told me about gender swaps?" He paused. "Among other things. Have you ever had the thought that maybe it's not angels?"

Clarke gave Bellamy a grateful look when he handed her the bag of dust. She'd brushed against it with the tips of her fingers, but these shelves were unnecessarily high and out of her reach. All they had left to find now was the hemp, then they could go meet Ivy and have this taken care of. She intended to make a hex bag for each of the apartments their people were staying in – and Alicia – and hope they could at least be hidden from the demons while they were in their own apartments.

The way Bellamy suddenly started whispering when he spoke about the angels had Clarke raising her eyebrows. She wasn't surprised to hear Murphy wanted revenge. Murphy had always had a thirst for revenge when he felt he was wronged. And Clarke knew he felt the angels had targeted him specifically when his soul had been taken. But she wasn't sure how he felt he was going to be able to take revenge on the angels.

"You don't have to whisper," she told him. "People say worse on the network, and I'm sure they read everything there." She'd been around when the angels posted on the network occasionally. It was how they'd posted the death match pairs months ago. "And, yes, in answer to your question. I've thought that. We have no proof other than their own word either way. But no matter who or what brought us here, we're here. We're at their mercy."

She trailed her fingers down a shelf and came across the hemp; she grabbed two bags, just in case, before moving toward the front to check out. "Honestly? I know that this, all they're putting us through, it's just the tip of the iceberg, Bellamy."

Bellamy gave her a sheepish smile when she told him that he didn't have to whisper. He didn't know how it worked here. If they were just watching everyone's move, or if they dropped them here and let them live their lives. Maybe nobody really had the answers. Bellamy was just doing his best to figure it all out in a night. But he wouldn't and he just finally nodded. They had everything they needed, which was good - for Clarke. She could do what she needed to do. Of course, she didn't have to do it alone and he was there for her, as he always was.

"Has it gradually gotten worse?" He asked then as they walked up to the counter and after the transaction was made, they were walking back toward the complex. Bellamy knew it had been bad. O had told him some stories. Whatever they were going to use them for, they were snuffing out the ones who couldn't handle it, at least that's what it felt like to him. Those who remained were still strong enough to do what they needed to do in order to win whatever war they were here for.

"Either way, angels or not, I think Murphy is going to do something." Because that's just who Murphy was which meant they were going to have to keep an eye on him. Whatever had happened during his time soulless, it was lost on Bellamy. He had no idea. But he knew it was bad. It had to be. Murphy was bad as it was with a soul. Without? He didn't even want to see that.

"What do you want to do about him?" Bellamy asked, looking at her. He figured that she still led them. While they weren't in a post-apocalyptic world, they still needed some voice of reason and understandably, that had always been Clarke.

Clarke shrugged. There really wasn't a concrete answer to that question. Sometimes it felt like it was getting easier. Sometimes, things moved slowly. Aside from the fact they'd been brought here by supposed angels, it could feel like they were allowed to just live their lives as they chose. Then the rug was pulled out from under them. While Clarke hadn't faced the challenges like Murphy, Monty, and some of the others, she'd been through her share of horrible things. But it wasn't always that way.

Bellamy thought Murphy was going to do something, and Clarke had to admit he was probably right. Murphy had gotten better those urges never changed. here, she couldn't deny that. When he'd first come here, he'd been just as difficult as ever. Clarke had had to force him to get a job, and Lexa had threatened to cut off his hand because he was stealing. They had actually become fairly close since being here. But if anyone had a taste for revenge, it was Murphy. Without a doubt.

"All we can do is talk to him and hope he doesn't go through with it," Clarke sighed. "Things are... a little different here." While she had still taken on a leadership role, for the most part, they were all on their own here. Circumstances weren't so dire here. A lot of their people had been given a second chance at life here. She wasn't going to dictate over them, but she was there when she was needed. Always.

They checked out quickly and painlessly at the front register. Their Lyft was gone – she'd have to order another to get back to their complex – but she decided to hold off for a second. There was something Bellamy needed to know, and she didn't want to say it in such close proximity to other people.

They moved away from the storefront, and she leaned up against the brick of the building. She took a breath. "There's something you should know. Raven... she's been working on an EMP. Monty was helping her with it while she was here. She's planning to use it to blow up the barrier." Was it any wonder she didn't want people hearing her talk about this? They'd probably think she was a terrorist.

"Yeah, let's hope." Bellamy said but he wasn't exactly innocent with that since he felt that he had put the idea in his head. Then again, he wondered if Murphy already had the idea and Bellamy mentioning something was just confirming what he felt he needed to do. Bellamy didn't know any better. He literally just arrived and maybe he shouldn't have said anything. But it was too late now. It was out there and now Bellamy had to try and reel him in. He eyed her briefly before looking away. He should probably tell her that.

"... She told me," Bellamy said, looking at her once again. Raven had mentioned that she had an EMP. There was no working on it anymore. It was made. Did Clarke know that? It didn't sound like it and now Bellamy was caught in another dilemma. What was this? Bellamy rubbed the back of his neck as he looked around and then his eyes were back on Clarke. She needed to know.

"Look, this stays between us," Bellamy told her, his voice down so nobody else could listen to them. This wasn't exactly what they needed to hear.

"She's not working on it anymore. It's made." Raven had trusted him with that information and now Bellamy was trusting Clarke with it. If anything, Bellamy could try and get her to not use it, but he would need some time.

"She told me that nobody else knows that. Look, I can try and get her to not use it. I don't know where it is, but I doubt she'd tell me that." He paused and looked at her. "Unless you think you can stop her from doing it." He guessed that people had tried to stop Raven but she continued making it anyway. Even Monty was helping her, which wasn't such a surprise.

"You think anyone else is in on it?" It couldn't have been just Raven. Something told him that Harper could have been involved with it too. Not making it, but definitely wanting it made.

Clarke raised her eyebrows. She hadn't known that. She and Raven hadn't had much of a discussion when it came to the EMP. She found out it was being made at the same time as everyone else, and she wasn't okay with it. Of course, Raven would be Raven, and she was going on no matter what anyone else thought. She was most surprised at Monty, honestly.

None of them knew what would happen if the EMP worked and brought down the barrier. It could just open to the wider world, sure. But it could also be the only thing keeping them here and so many of the people they loved who were here, alive, when they were dead back home could be taken from their second chances at life. Finn, Jasper, Lexa, Lincoln, Anya.

Clarke knew things couldn't always be fair. But why shouldn't the dead who'd been brought here have another chance to be alive?

"She won't listen to anyone, Bellamy. Don't waste your breath." Clarke loved Raven, but she was stubborn. When she was stuck on something and she was determined, that was it. It was happening, like it or not.

"I doubt anyone else is in on it. She got a pretty negative reaction when she announced her plans." Even Harper hadn't seen pleased, and Clarke had wondered if it had caused any tension in her relationship with Monty since he'd been so integral in getting it off the ground.
