Amara was starting to adapt to this place. Los Angeles, the city of angels as she had been told and perhaps it lived up to its name. She was of clear mind, no longer trapped, unable to move and no longer feeling the despair of the supernatural passing through her to get to the Other Side. She was free. And she was with her love. She could not ask for any more than she had now. Of course, she could. Amara knew that she was not immortal, yet Silas was. She longed to be immortal with him, to live out their eternity together, as they had planned to. She spoke of this with Silas, but he said nothing more and therefore, she did not bring it up again.
To those on the outside, she might have seemed in trouble, but she was far from it. As she told Kai, she was the safest person in this town. Silas was powerful and she would not believe anyone could ever outmatch him and therefore, she chose to not be afraid.
She had been frightened when she arrived, but slowly she found that there was no reason. Amara might have appeared to be polite and kind and in truth, she was, but she was once a girl who had played Qetsiyah. She was so powerful and so in love with Silas, but Amara had caught his eyes and he remained, choosing Amara. Amara could be manipulative and vindictive if need be. She could also ask Silas of anything and he would do her bidding, this she was sure of.
Today, however, Silas was tending to his own business and Amara took it upon herself to leave the apartment and explore. The snow was a delight, no matter how cold the wind was against her cheeks, she was bundled in designer winter clothes as she walked along the sidewalk. It was hours later when she was walking down that same side walk with her bags of treasures that she had bought for her and Silas. It was dark, the sun had set and the wind wasn't kind to her. Not only that, but Amara had no idea that she was being followed.
The sound of her cell phone did frighten her. She was still getting used to that. Not to mention the cars that were driving by. It was all so different, but Amara stopped then and tried to pull her phone out of her purse only for it to get knocked out of her hand. It fell in a snowbank and Amara turned around, seeing a tall man. With a gun.
"You do not want to do this," she said, her eyes on the gun and then on him.
"Your purse. Now."
Amara wished so badly than anything else that Silas was by her side, but he was not. She turned, trying to run but she slipped, falling on the sidewalk only to feel the man grab her by her hair and pull her into the alley.
