Albus pushed open the door of the library, feeling the heavy hush of the space rush out to meet him. He’d spent a little bit of time here, but found he preferred to work on the sprawling space of the kitchen table or, when even more room was a priority, the living room floor. The library had a faintly unlived in air to it, like it was holding its breath. Albus suspected books had simply been dumped inside as they arrived, leaving small heaps of tomes collecting dust on either side. Shrugging off his jacket, Albus slung the blue garment over his arm, peering into the space before setting off to find the young lady he’d spoken to in the journals.
He’d realised, far too late, that he had never asked her name. It was an unfortunate habit of this, made worse by the fact that everyone here seemed to already know who he was. It didn’t leave much room for seamless introductions. Swallowing a faintly frustrated sigh, Albus stepped into the stacks, looking this way and that for any sign of another living soul amongst the books. Eventaully, he caught sight of a flickering light at the end of one of the rows.
Keeping his casual stride, the young Professor turned towards it. He was shortly rewarded by the sight of a redhaired young woman, bent over a stack of books at one of the back tables. Albus cleared his throat a little as he approached. He had hoped not to startle her, but even that noise seemed unnaturally loud in the hushed room.
