Welcome to the first official meeting of the Village Watch! Gawain will be going over the following points, and asking for input on some things to make sure that they are building the most effective form of the watch for the safety of the villagers. So make sure if your character wants to be a part of the Village Watch you tag in and contribute where they have something to say. I. Organization, and structure. Due to the fact that there are only two ministry-trained professionals in addition to himself, the structure of the watch will be a little taxing on all three until there are more who have been through field training. For the moment, it seems as though the best way to structure the watch will be to have him overseeing it and reporting directly to the governing council as needed. Watch leads will be appointed who have ministry-completed training to pair with members undergoing training on watch shifts, and will report directly to Gawain. II. Shifts. As it stands, the best way to divide shifts at this moment would be either in 4 hours shifts to be completely twice daily, or 8 hour shifts, once daily. No shift should ever last more than 16 hours. Shifts should be located largely to the town and adjoining housing. While he does have plans to explore and map the woods, they will, at this time, largely rely on the hunters (which includes himself on occasion) for necessary information about anomalies that happen in the woods that will need their attention. Shifts should also include warding and reinforcing wards around the town as necessary. III. Training. Training will happen multiple times throughout the week in the morning so as to be able to join day and evening watch shifts. While Gawain will be providing the training for classes, watch leads will be expected to reinforce and expand on that training whilst out in the field. Since everyone is from varying levels of talent and knowledge from various points throughout history and war, completion of training will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. IV. Personal Conduct. As mentioned in the meeting, Gawain will expect all members to behave as professionally as they are physically capable of when they are in public, not just on duty. If they find themselves incapable of behaving professionally in a situation, they need to call for another watch member and remove themselves immediately. He's aware that the village is comprised mostly of friends and family, but they also need to remember that they are sources of safety and need to treat the trust they are trying to earn with respect. In moments they are thrust into situations by the village, their first assumption should be that it is dangerous. Given that what seemed like the simple ball resulted in one person disappearing and both Harry & Tonks being grabbed from the party and taken to the nightmare house, they cannot afford to assume safety. While this doesn't mean that he thinks all of them should not have fun and enjoy their time here, but they need to do so in a manner responsible to the role they've taken up in society. He does not want any of them to be in a situation in which they lose more members of society when they could have possibly been saved. If perspective members of the village watch do not think that they can perform their roles in such a way, he would very much like to thank them for their interest and understands. (Tag in below your characters to be considered for watch positions, and any contributions to the points listed above, or anything they feel Gawain may have missed that will be relevant to them as watch members. If you don't tag in our character to this thread, they will not be considered watch members.) |
