Peter laughed because, yeah, he would fanboy if Captain America showed up. On the Ot'sinside, mostly. A little on the outside. "I happen to know him, okay?" he said. "It's not like I'd ask for his autograph or anything. Sure, I thought about it the first time we met. But like, way uncool."
Gwen's tone of voice didn't escape Peter's notice. "There's a pretty fast learning curve when you're just sort of thrust into the whole superhero thing," he said. "It's basically straight out the frying pan and into the fire. So you're an old pro and I'm not about to get tricked into doing all the heavy lifting, kiddo." He winked at her but then realized she couldn't exactly see it. "Okay, so I just winked but you'll have to take my word for it."
Her little white and pink shrug was cute. Peter had to remind himself that the last thing he needed was to get tangled up (no pun intended) in anything else just yet. There was MJ and Gwen, who he didn't know he was talking to, and Spider-Woman had to remain just an ally for the time being. Even if there was an immediate attraction to the fact that they both knew just what this whole thing was like. "Strained relationship with your dad, huh? Not that it's a competition but I think I got you beat there. Orphan. Like Annie only with a lot less musical numbers and no scruffy dog. Personal lives are overrated anyway. The people who are stupid enough to love us only get hurt."
