Around noon, Lily went into labour at the Potter household, both soon-to-be parents surprised and James scrambled to make her comfortable and tell all the right people. After he’d called their Healer, an owl was sent to Mrs. Potter, and he notified Sirius, Remus, Peter, & Mary via journals, asking them to head over. Once that was taken care, Lily was guided to their extra guest room there on the first floor and all the visitors were welcomed and probably encouraged to distract Lily from the contractions as much as possible until it was time to get to work, and everyone but James and Mrs. Potter were asked to wait in the living room around the usual dinner hour. They were still free to entertain/distract themselves however they’d like, having free range of the house and fridge if they wanted, but the impending delivery was well under way just beyond the bedroom door. Labour, despite being the most painful thing Lily had ever experienced, was trouble-free and it wasn’t until 8:24 in the evening that Harry James Potter was born! When things were announced and the parents and baby had been given a bit of time to themselves while Mrs. Potter fixed up a late meal for everyone else still about, they were welcomed back into the room (possibly only one or two at a time) where the midwife had cleaned everything up and tended to a very exhausted and weary Lily with a very tiny baby boy in her arms. It wouldn’t be long before James would have to take the baby out of the room so Lily could sleep and begin to recover, but anyone would be invited to stay as late as they liked. |
