Last Wednesday, an employee at Borgin & Burkes made off with 300 galleons after closing up the shop for the evening. Borgin & Burkes in Knockturn Alley as a reputation for dealing in rare and exotic artifacts to its customers, and it isn’t unusual for a day’s worth of sales to bring in that much. But for an entire day’s profit to go missing along with their shop boy is something that Owner Caractacus Burke said happens, “once in a blue moon.” The theft came as quite the surprise to both owners, “The last thing that you expect a Hufflepuff to do is rob you blind,” said Burke when asked to comment on the situation. “He seemed like a nice kid, but I should have known better.” John Evans had been employeed with Borgin & Burkes for the last two years and had reportedly been hired for his charm and beguiling way with the customers. As a muggleborn Hufflepuff, both owners say that ripping them off is the last thing that they expected Evans to do, but that they should have been far more selective in their hiring processes. “There was definitely something shifty about him,” co-owner Arvirargus Borgin added to Burke’s previous reported statement. “There always is about those types, and I told you [Burke] that we would have been better off keeping their kind out of our shop.” DMLE Officers investigating the case have managed to track John Evans’s movements from the crime scene and found that he managed to flee the country on an outbound flight from Heathrow airport Monday morning. Specific details of John Evans’s flight itinerary are not yet available to the general public, but the DMLE hopes that this situation will soon be resolved through cooperation with other Ministries. |
